Problem inserting links

Copper Contributor

Wanted to set up easy access to open a website from my workbook. Not sure if I'm using the wrong version or what is going on but won't connect. Had it set up before and my computer crashed. Can anyone tell me which format of excel i should be using.?

Hi Michael

Assuming it's as simple as it sounds, you just need to ensure that your URL looks www.example.com or http://example.com (you can also do http://www.example.com).

This method will turn the text into clickable hyperlinks that will open your default browser to the website.

If you do example.com then it will not recognise it as a web address.

Here's the example mentioned. Note the middle option is not recognised as a hyperlink. Here's the example mentioned. Note the middle option is not recognised as a hyperlink.

I hope that it was the solution for you!

Hi Michael

Based on our offline discussions, the best way to fix the issue is to use Format painter and to copy the working cells format (you only had one working cell) and to apply the format to the cells that weren't working, which would fix the issue.

Trying to figure out what went wrong is time consuming and sometimes the easiest way to move forward are things like this.

Hope you are well and all the best with your Excel work!
