Hi all,
Is there a custom number format that can be used to allow wildcards or asterisks (*) in a phone number? Below is an example of the desired result. The numbers on the left are not formatted and the numbers on the right are with formatting (with the exception of the desired result):
I'm currently using the default phone number format, but I have not been able to find an alternative that allows special characters to be embedded in the phone number.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

SolutionAdding a character such as * to a number changes it from a number to a text value.
Number formats only work for numbers, not for text values.
So what you want is impossible.
I'd enter the special character in the cell to the right of the phone number.
