- Office 365 apps are closing randomly on MacOSHi, is anyone currently experiencing issues with all MS Office 365 apps (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote, Word) in the way that they close all at once, randomly, and you are probably losing work due to the unexpected shutdown. I got a new MacBook Pro with M3 Max with Sonoma 14.5 recently, and after using it for a few hours, it seems that sporadically, all O365 apps mentioned above that are open at the moment are closing all at once, randomly, without any error message, without any prior notice or any user interaction. ALL other applications except Office are working fine, also OneDrive and MS Teams stay open without any issues. After using the MacBook for a few days, it seems that it's maybe more likely to happen when the Mac is going to standby / lid closed and is woken up afterwards? Steps I already tried without any change of the behavior, each also including a complete reboot of the machine, in the following order. Updating Office with the MS AutoUpdater application Simple uninstall of MS Office applications Reinstallation by using a clean new O365 download Manual uninstallation using https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-office-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3 Clean reinstallation after complete manual uninstallation After uninstalling again, I tried to install it manually with deselection of the MS Defender which is included in the O365 installer package (Defender is already installed by default on the Mac). Renaming the MacBooks hostname from XXX-MBP-ABC123DEF to XXXMBPABC123DEF and renaming the SSD name from Macintosh HD to MacintoshHD. Complete wipe of the MacBook with my IT department and reinstall / setup of the machine, followed by starting auto updater and updating everything to the latest version. None of these steps is working, and Office keeps shutting down / crashing without any prior notice at random times, most likely after a sleep. It is enough to just open up some office applications and leave the Mac alone, after return you will find the Mac with all office applications closed (except Teams and Onedrive as mentioned above). Furthermore, I already set the network availability during sleep within my energy saving settings: Wake for network access from "Only on Power adapter" to "Always" Does anyone have any further ideas for analysis or a solution? On my private MBP with M1 Pro and Sonoma 14.5 there are no issues at all. Thank you!!!SolvedMichael1240Jul 02, 2024Brass Contributor30KViews5likes95Comments
- Please add Markdown supportPlease add support for Markdown editing/rendering. EverNote and Boostnote all support this, but OneNote still lacks this feature, while it remains so many developers' main notetaking tool. Take myself as an example, I enjoy its seamless integration with OneDrive and powerful search function, but find it difficult to properly take down coding related notes -- I was forced to format code snippets into monospaced font with shading to make them look like "code snippets". To elaborate the user story about this idea: The user can create a new "regular page" or a "Markdown page". If the latter, then Markdown tags entered are rendered as you type (e.g. #title, >quote, *bold*, `code`...) The user might also enjoy a "cell editing" mode (similar to Jupyter Notebook). So if the cursor is placed in a cell, then it changes to raw text view. And once escaped from this cell, it gets rendered. And maybe enable some Jupyter/VS Code stype shortcut keys, too (Alt+Up/Down to move the cell, Alt+Shift+Up/Down to duplicate the cell, Ctrl+Shift+K to kill a line, etc) This way notetaking will be more efficient/fun, and many developers would thank MS!frank-yifei-wangJul 13, 2021Iron Contributor117KViews205likes73Comments
- 'End appointments and meetings early' feature now broken in Office Cloud Policy ServiceOriginally the option to in Outlook to 'End appointments and meetings early' was a simple on/off option and was reflected in the registry with a DWORD 'endeventsearly' in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar Now a recent update now allows users to select 'End early' or 'Start Late' and the DWORD has been replaced with String Value ShortenEvents that can have the value 'End_Early', 'Start_Late', or 'None'. However the Office Cloud Policy Service still only shows the previous settings which applies only the DWORD which now has no effect. Can you please update the Office Policy Service to reflect the new setting in Outlook so we can push this out to our users? Thanks!Joe SavageFeb 24, 2021Brass Contributor51KViews2likes61Comments
- OneNote application not launching/opening (android)Hi everyone, A couple of days ago, my One Note andorid application was opening just fine, however, I have noticed since yesterday that the application simply doesn't launch and remain stuck on the app logo screen. I tried clearing up the app cache and that didn't help. Can someone share if they have faced this issue?SehreenJMay 11, 2020Copper Contributor20KViews0likes54Comments
- Teams Posts & Files Tabs - making Files Tab as the default AND Renaming the General channelHi there Two queries. Is there a way we can make the Files the default tab when opening Teams, currently this is Posts and most people are looking for a file, so it becomes an extra click. Alternatively can we change the order of the Post and Files tabs, so Files comes first. Re the General folder - is there a way to rename this Many thanks RanaRana_SenojakMar 31, 2022Brass Contributor85KViews37likes39Comments
- OneNote and Outlook integrationWould someone help me to understand what is going on with Outlook for Windows 10? I've confused myself by going around in circles looking for an answer. I broke my laptop yesterday and my nice shiny new machine has fresh software along with its new smell. However I was using Outlook 2016 and I was able to send emails to Outlook for filing, create meeting notes and do all sorts of things to get emails out of my inbox. There were buttons to send to Outlook and life was quite lovely. I understand that Outlook for Windows 10 is not Outlook 2016 and there are features not yet implemented in the latest version. What I am trying to understand is whether the integration features that I seem to have "lost" are part of the "not yet implemented" features or am I just being a fool and not understanding where to get the buttons which were very very handy to have. I hope I am making my question clear - my brain is hurting trying to sort this out.SolvedJacinta4870Apr 03, 2019Copper Contributor95KViews3likes32Comments
- Issue during sync notes between Samsung Notes and OneNoteI have just updated my Samsung Galaxy s6 lite to the latest version of Samsung Notes, which includes the possibility to sync the notes between Samsung Notes and OneNote. I have made all the passages at this link https://support.microsoft.com/it-it/office/sincronizzare-samsung-notes-con-il-feed-di-onenote-581e0085-8518-4303-abfd-4fdfb92120b6?ui=it-it&rs=it-it&ad=it#:~:text=On%20your%20mobile%20device%2C%20open%20the%20Samsung%20Notes,the%20next%20screen%2C%20tap%20Sign%20in%20to%20continue. (confirmed both by Samsung and Microsoft support) but on OneNote for Windows 10, OneNote 2016 and OneNote's feed on Outlook.com doesn't show any of my notes on Samsung Notes. I have tried also to reinstall the app with the Microsoft support and also to re-login to the app with my Microsoft account, the one I use on OneNote, but nothing changed. My brother also has the same tablet and also the same problem: no notes showed. I have called at first Samsung, who said that is a problem of syncing, so is a problem of microsoft. I also think it could be a problem of syncing, because when I press on "Sync now" on the Samsung Notes app, it sync more than 100 notes instantly (very strange)... The microsoft support told me to open a new discussion here, if no one talked about it before (I searched but nothing found), so sorry if I made another discussion with this argument. Thanks to could help meLumacherNov 26, 2020Copper Contributor25KViews3likes28Comments
- Word for Mac File > Share > Send Document Doesn't WorkMicrosoft Word for Mac Version 16.55 (21111400) Mac OS Monterrey 12.0.1 (21A559) When I pull down File > Share > Send Document, Word gives a "donk" (error) sound. Same thing for File > Share > Send PDF. When I do File > Share > Send HTML, the system opens Outlook and appears to prepare an email message to send the file. Any suggestions? By the way, Outlook is not my default email program. A different email program (Spark) is designated for my Mac, using the prescribed but odd way to do that: open the Mac Mail app, and pull down preferences (for Mail), and in the General tab specify the default email reader.ortnpalmsDec 14, 2021Copper Contributor23KViews1like25Comments

- OneNote - Inserting Code BlocksAre there any plans for a way to format code blocks in OneNote without inserting a 1 column/row table or an ugly print out? The most relevant Google search brings up a post from 2018 where the top answer says its been requested on UserVoice and directs OP there, but 3 years later, still no code block formatting options and Microsoft isn't using UserVoice anymore so I don't where else I can submit feature requests besides this discussion board.
