Please add Markdown support
Please add support for Markdown editing/rendering. EverNote and Boostnote all support this, but OneNote still lacks this feature, while it remains so many developers' main notetaking tool. Take myself as an example, I enjoy its seamless integration with OneDrive and powerful search function, but find it difficult to properly take down coding related notes -- I was forced to format code snippets into monospaced font with shading to make them look like "code snippets". To elaborate the user story about this idea: The user can create a new "regular page" or a "Markdown page". If the latter, then Markdown tags entered are rendered as you type (e.g. #title, >quote, *bold*, `code`...) The user might also enjoy a "cell editing" mode (similar to Jupyter Notebook). So if the cursor is placed in a cell, then it changes to raw text view. And once escaped from this cell, it gets rendered. And maybe enable some Jupyter/VS Code stype shortcut keys, too (Alt+Up/Down to move the cell, Alt+Shift+Up/Down to duplicate the cell, Ctrl+Shift+K to kill a line, etc) This way notetaking will be more efficient/fun, and many developers would thank MS!
Teams Posts & Files Tabs - making Files Tab as the default AND Renaming the General channel
Hi there Two queries. Is there a way we can make the Files the default tab when opening Teams, currently this is Posts and most people are looking for a file, so it becomes an extra click. Alternatively can we change the order of the Post and Files tabs, so Files comes first. Re the General folder - is there a way to rename this Many thanks Rana
OneNote and Apple Scribble
I’m running the public beta version of iPadOS 14. Apple now has a feature called scribble, which let’s the user take the Apple Pencil and hardwrite text into any text field and Apple converts it to typed text. This doesn’t work in the current version of OneNote. I suspect that is because of the way that OneNote executes its free form text boxes. Will OneNote eventually support this feature. I’d REALLY like to take notes in OneNote with my pencil and using handwriting, but having the Apple functionality turn it into text. FYI, it already works on Evernote.
OneNote - Inserting Code Blocks
Are there any plans for a way to format code blocks in OneNote without inserting a 1 column/row table or an ugly print out? The most relevant Google search brings up a post from 2018 where the top answer says its been requested on UserVoice and directs OP there, but 3 years later, still no code block formatting options and Microsoft isn't using UserVoice anymore so I don't where else I can submit feature requests besides this discussion board. OneNote Keeps Jumping to the top of the Page
This is probably the most annoying bug out there. This issue has been ongoing for years now and it seems like Microsoft is not fixing this issue. I have searched through multiple threads and I haven't found any solution for this... Microsoft OneNote constantly jumps to the top of the page when looking at an inserted PDF. This usually happens when I'm scrolling with my MacBook Pro trackpad. I'm begging anyone who has a solution to this to speak up. It is extremely annoying having to scroll back to a specific page on a 40+ page document. Sometimes, it happens every 30 seconds or so and it makes the user experience almost unbearable at this point. The only reason I haven't switched away from OneNote is that I have all my other notes on this program. PLEASE HELP!! Last year, Microsoft announced "https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2022/10/12/introducing-microsoft-places-turn-your-spaces-into-places/" at Ignite, and the https://youtu.be/ndrS8B89uO4 is still online, too. There are even https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftsearch/manage-floorplans because of the supposedly imminent arrival of this new app. But somehow, there has been no news anywhere about Micro since October 2022. The about to start beta did not start, and on the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=places. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/DeployOffice/microsoft-search-bing Guys... you just can't do this. It's fine if you want to develop a browser extension, but it needs to be an "opt-in." Most admins, myself included, would consider hijacking people's search provider within a third-party browser to be malicious behavior.
