Please add Markdown support
Please add support for Markdown editing/rendering. EverNote and Boostnote all support this, but OneNote still lacks this feature, while it remains so many developers' main notetaking tool. Take myself as an example, I enjoy its seamless integration with OneDrive and powerful search function, but find it difficult to properly take down coding related notes -- I was forced to format code snippets into monospaced font with shading to make them look like "code snippets". To elaborate the user story about this idea: The user can create a new "regular page" or a "Markdown page". If the latter, then Markdown tags entered are rendered as you type (e.g. #title, >quote, *bold*, `code`...) The user might also enjoy a "cell editing" mode (similar to Jupyter Notebook). So if the cursor is placed in a cell, then it changes to raw text view. And once escaped from this cell, it gets rendered. And maybe enable some Jupyter/VS Code stype shortcut keys, too (Alt+Up/Down to move the cell, Alt+Shift+Up/Down to duplicate the cell, Ctrl+Shift+K to kill a line, etc) This way notetaking will be more efficient/fun, and many developers would thank MS!
OneNote - Inserting Code Blocks
Are there any plans for a way to format code blocks in OneNote without inserting a 1 column/row table or an ugly print out? The most relevant Google search brings up a post from 2018 where the top answer says its been requested on UserVoice and directs OP there, but 3 years later, still no code block formatting options and Microsoft isn't using UserVoice anymore so I don't where else I can submit feature requests besides this discussion board. OneNote videos disappearing
Today all of my embedded YT videos in my OneNote book disappeared all of the sudden. They had been working but suddenly are not. The OneNote is within a Teams group and when I view the videos there only placeholders show- no videos. When I view the videos in the OneNote app and try to play them and error message pops up and tells me the video doesn't exist, which it does in YT. The links have not changed or been altered. Any help is appreciated. Our IST cannot figure it out.When opening OneNote client from SharePoint Notebook, get an error "We couldn't open that location."
When attempting to open the OneNote Windows Desktop client from SharePoint, we are getting the error, "We couldn't open that location. It might not exist or you might not have permission to open it. Please contact the owner of onenote:https://companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/SiteName/SiteAssets/Name #1 (V 04, 08, 97 for more information." I gave myself full admin permissions to the site and can fully access it on SharePoint, so it shouldn't be a permissions issue. The original owner of the site is also unable to open this notebook in OneNote. Initially, I thought it might be the way that it was named as the name of the notebook was "Name #1 (V 04, 08, 97 & 377) Notebook." Note that everything after the ampersand in the original error was missing so I thought that maybe just renaming the file would resolve it, but alas, it has not. Now the error reads: "Please contact the owner of onenote:https://companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/SiteName/SiteAssets/Name #1 (V 04, 08, 97 and 377 Notebook/Untitled%20Section.oneDesign%20Kick-Off for more information." The last part is the section name and tab. When attempting to open the Notebook on mobile, I get the error: "OneNote can't open this notebook because it has been deleted or moved. Please check the link address and then try again." I have renamed it multiple times but still cannot open in the desktop app. Other SharePoint Notebooks that I have access to in the tenant I'm able to open just fine. I have run a repair on my office install.Password protected Word file embedded in OneNote asks for password three times
I have a password-protected Word document that I have attached in a OneNote page. I've noticed recently that when I try to open the Word document, it prompts for the password three times before it opens the file. This is with the desktop version of OneNote and Word, currently at Version 2411. The issue does not exist if I roll Office back to version 2404 (16.0.17531.20120), and I've been able to replicate the issue on multiple computers so it looks like a problem that was introduced in a recent Office update. Anyone else experiencing similar?
Not so Dark theme
Is there something that can be edited or is an option coming to enable a more contrasting but less harsh theme to MS365 apps and Windows? As I’ve got older I need to turn down brightness because the extremes in the current themes, White, Black, Dark Grey, are too harsh, but that doesn’t quite achieve what I need. A light grey, giving better contrast than white for those that need it but not so harsh and depressing as the dark versions, would be ideal. We’re lacking options at the light end of the spectrumOneNote is using . for decimal seperator, would like to change into , (comma)
Hello, I'm from the Netherlands, where we use . (point) for thousens sign, and , (comma) for decimal seperator. How can I change it in OneNote? All of office and windows is in Englies, my microsoft account also English, but everywhere (windows/office/ms account) I have selected Regional formats are in Dutch. Excel is fine, just OneNote is still wrong.. 😞OneNote Web Clipper broken - no feedback from Microsoft
OneNote Web Clipper is broken and, in spite of logging the issue via various channels, there is an absence of feedback from Microsoft on the cause, and likely resolution of the issue. Worse, there seems to be a lack of a Microsoft process to own and escalate the reported and verified issue within the Microsoft organization whilst keeping the customer updated on progress.
