My add in works perfectly fine in Windows10 but when I upload the manifest file under com.microsoft.word/Documents/wef directory in mac os x (I am using EI Captian), I can see the Add-ins in word , and I am able to choose my add-in. My Add-in loads perfectly fine in Mac also and I am able to navigate to home.html and able to execute the custom login functionality. As part of the app functionality I need to call getFileAsync method. In Mac it fails and it does not show any error or it does not show anything in the logs. I tried to setup Vorlon to debug, but when I launch the web app from browser its able to connect to Vorlon (it show the client in vorlon dashboard), but when I trigger the app from within the word (by clicking the Add-ins button) Vorlon is not picking the client. Hence I am not able to test what is the issue with getFileAsync() method with Mac OS. Is there an easy way to debug the app, as it works perctly fine in Windows. I need to make sure the office Api's should run properly in mac. Please let me know if you have any pointers on this. Thanks.Convert PDF to Editable Word Document
I’m running macOS Monterey 12.2.1 and just upgraded to Office 2021 for Mac with a perpetual license (as opposed to Office 365). I want to open a PDF within Word (version 16.58, build 22021501) so that I can edit it. Yes, I already read this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/opening-pdfs-in-word-1d1d2acc-afa0-46ef-891d-b76bcd83d9c8 The first time I tried to open a PDF in Word, I was presented with this warning: The PDF is a tax return with sensitive information so I clicked “Don’t Allow.” Now every time I try to open a PDF with Word, I get this “Convert File” dialog, but PDF is NOT one of the listed formats: Here’s how opening a PDF is supposed to work on Word for Windows: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/edit-a-pdf-b2d1d729-6b79-499a-bcdb-233379c2f63a How are PDFs supposed to convert to editable Word documents on a Mac? This post from 2015 indicates that the Mac version of Word (at that time) couldn’t open PDFs locally and had to be done from Word Online using an Office 365 subscription: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/how-do-i-open-convert-a-pdf-file-in-word-2016-for/83a1ad0e-1386-495e-8d0f-80a9e7884b1d Is this the real problem: Is Word for Mac 2021 unable to open PDFs locally? If Word for Mac can’t convert PDFs to an editable document locally, then how do I upload the PDF for conversion online? I’ve already authorized the “Connected Experience” in Word → Preferences → Privacy → Manage Connected Experiences https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/account-privacy-settings-3e7bc183-bf52-4fd0-8e6b-78978f7f121b#ID0EBBH=MacOS Do I also need to make a change via Terminal, as alluded to here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/privacy/mac-privacy-preferences Or is the problem that an Office 365 subscription is required for online conversion? Can’t perpetual licenses upload and convert PDFs to editable Word documents? Thank you for reading this long post.1.4KViews2likes2CommentsSSO issues in Word and Excel, but not Outlook
Hi, Strange issue started a month ago at a customer site. They use RDS with Office 365 installed. Historically this has been working fine, then it randomly stopped signing in properly for all users. We can't point it down to anything specific however. Network / User / Settings all look good. What is strange is on first login to Outlook, it says it's done SSO but says unlicensed. A simple restart then would show it licensed. We have managed to work round that issue by saving the license folder \appdata\local\microsoft\office\ to the UPD. So for this, a month ago, new and existing users would just sign in and it worked. Then something changed and users were being asked to sign in every time. So we have made this change to include \appdata\local to the UPD - now users only see this problem once (a month). While not as good as it was a month ago, it is acceptable. However, and this is what I need help with. SSO is NOT working at all from Word / Excel. Open Word Blank Micrsoft Sign In box pops up. You have to type username and hit enter You then have to type your password and hit Sign In That popup then goes away, but at the tope right of Word, it still shows "Sign In". When you go to Account, it still has a Sign in box. BUT... if you now close and reopen word, both of those show the signed in user. The problem here is that this doesn't persist over the UPD, so happens every time the users open Word or Excel. As this is used by a business app to open docs, it's actually breaking the process and we need to fix this. I have been having a look at SSO info, because it feels like something fairly low level has changed with how this works, but can't find anything helpful, hence posting here after about a month of searching and trying things. It's not very helpful when you have MS links like: How to use Remote Connectivity Analyzer to troubleshoot single sign-on issues for Microsoft 365, Azure, or Intune https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/troubleshoot/active-directory/single-sign-on-issues How to run Remote Connectivity Analyzer to test SSO authentication To run Remote Connectivity Analyzer to test SSO authentication, follow these steps: Open a web browser, and then browse to https://www.testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/SingleSignOn/input. However, that page just hangs with LOADING written on it. Then on the change notes for this page we see that it was removed in 2022! Version 4.0.15 (October 2022) Removed the Single Sign-on Test now that basic authentication in Exchange Online is being disabled. Quick note on the setup. AD is synced to Entra using Entra Connect (Password Hash Sync + SSO enabled), latest version. SSO URLs are added to Internet trusted sites as per setup instructions. Network has been tested and all URLS accessible and working for the user. User is on RDS on fully updated Server 2016 and is on the latest Office 365 app updates. So I guess my first question is: 1) Does SSO still work for Word and Excel? Is it a realistic expectation that the user will sign in to the PC and then Word and Excel will automatically sign in for the user (proper seamless single sign on) like it was doing only a month or so ago? 2) What can I do to test and troubleshoot this if it should be working? I have been trying for a month, so I have already tried a lot of things. But maybe I am missing some tests? Any info to help get this working again (or that it's no longer possible and we missed that instruction from MS) would be ideal. Thanks in advance5.1KViews0likes23CommentsRuby text formatting
Is there any way to format ALL ruby text within one MS Word document at the same time? I currently have to select each word (Japanese character) and format every one in the document separately - it takes too long. The attached file shows an example of the individual selections with red circles and the format I am wanting to change. I want to change EVERYTHING in the document at one time if possible rather than each one individually. I did try putting the cursor on one bit of text content that I wanted to formatted then went to Home ribbon >Style pane>Select all but it selected everything else except the words I wanted so the Phonetic Guide was grated out. See attached image. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.6.7KViews1like8CommentsNot so Dark theme
Is there something that can be edited or is an option coming to enable a more contrasting but less harsh theme to MS365 apps and Windows? As I’ve got older I need to turn down brightness because the extremes in the current themes, White, Black, Dark Grey, are too harsh, but that doesn’t quite achieve what I need. A light grey, giving better contrast than white for those that need it but not so harsh and depressing as the dark versions, would be ideal. We’re lacking options at the light end of the spectrumQuestion: Adding Undo and Redo Buttons to the Toolbar in Office 365 Apps
My Microsoft Office got updated today, I was taken to the Coming Soon section as soon as I opened it through a pop-up box and I updated to the new and refresh look of Office but what I found is the undo and button came to the ribbon. I could remove those buttons from ribbon but cannot figure out how to add them in the toolbar as depicted in the picture. Can anyone please help me?SolvedWord for Mac File > Share > Send Document Doesn't Work
Microsoft Word for Mac Version 16.55 (21111400) Mac OS Monterrey 12.0.1 (21A559) When I pull down File > Share > Send Document, Word gives a "donk" (error) sound. Same thing for File > Share > Send PDF. When I do File > Share > Send HTML, the system opens Outlook and appears to prepare an email message to send the file. Any suggestions? By the way, Outlook is not my default email program. A different email program (Spark) is designated for my Mac, using the prescribed but odd way to do that: open the Mac Mail app, and pull down preferences (for Mail), and in the General tab specify the default email reader.Coauthoring (autosaving) with a WebDav Network Drive
Hi, In the recent insider build of Office 365 for Apps (2306) we seem to have lost the ability to auto save in our webdav network drives, this feature works fine in 2305 and below, our customers are starting to get this upgrade and notice now the coauthoring/autosave isn't working anymore. Can anyone give me the actual release notes instead of Microsoft website just says "bug fixes released" I could do with knowing what was released between 2305 > 2306 so we can have a proper idea of what we are looking at from a code point of view. Or - has a bug been introduced in 2306 and Microsoft are unaware of this in the 2306 version? Any help appreciated. ThanksWord online not keeping Classic ribbon
There are some users who choose the Classic Ribbon option in Word online, but next time they open a word online doc the ribbon has defaulted back to single line. This only happens using the MS Edge browser ie: classic ribbon sticks in Chrome. Have reset settings for MS Edge. Have tried another user on a device where user has issue and it works ok. Seems to be user specific? Any ideas?Solved1.4KViews0likes3Comments
