Microsoft Sway - Restricting Access to Templates
Hi all, We are assessing the usage of Sway for internal project and change communications, and have a concern that those with access to Sway could create content which does not follow internal approved designs and patterns. Are there mechanisms in place to allow us to control which templates the content creator could use as a baseline for their content, whether that involves access to explicitly approved templates only (workflows for approvals??), or restricting access to marketplace or generally available content? Hi, is anyone currently experiencing issues with all MS Office 365 apps (Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, OneNote, Word) in the way that they close all at once, randomly, and you are probably losing work due to the unexpected shutdown. I got a new MacBook Pro with M3 Max with Sonoma 14.5 recently, and after using it for a few hours, it seems that sporadically, all O365 apps mentioned above that are open at the moment are closing all at once, randomly, without any error message, without any prior notice or any user interaction. ALL other applications except Office are working fine, also OneDrive and MS Teams stay open without any issues. After using the MacBook for a few days, it seems that it'smaybe more likely to happen when the Mac is going to standby / lid closed and is woken up afterwards? Steps I already tried without any change of the behavior, each also including a complete reboot of the machine, in the following order. Updating Office with the MS AutoUpdater application Simple uninstall of MS Office applications Reinstallation by using a clean new O365 download Manual uninstallation using https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/uninstall-office-for-mac-eefa1199-5b58-43af-8a3d-b73dc1a8cae3 Clean reinstallation after complete manual uninstallation After uninstalling again, I tried to install it manually with deselection of the MS Defender which is included in the O365 installer package (Defender is already installed by default on the Mac). Renaming the MacBooks hostname from XXX-MBP-ABC123DEF to XXXMBPABC123DEF and renaming the SSD name from Macintosh HD to MacintoshHD. Complete wipe of the MacBook with my IT department and reinstall / setup of the machine, followed by starting auto updater and updating everything to the latest version. None of these steps is working, and Office keeps shutting down / crashing without any prior notice at random times, most likely after a sleep. It is enough to just open up some office applications and leave the Mac alone, after return you will find the Mac with all office applications closed (except Teams and Onedrive as mentioned above). Furthermore, I already set the network availability during sleep within my energy saving settings: Wake for network access from "Only on Power adapter" to "Always" Does anyone have any further ideas for analysis or a solution? On my private MBP with M1 Pro and Sonoma 14.5 there are no issues at all. Thank you!!!SolvedMichael1240Nov 29, 2024Brass Contributor24KViews5likes96CommentsTeams Posts & Files Tabs - making Files Tab as the default AND Renaming the General channel
Hi there Two queries. Is there a way we can make the Files the default tab when opening Teams, currently this is Posts and most people are looking for a file, so it becomes an extra click. Alternatively can we change the order of the Post and Files tabs, so Files comes first. Re the General folder - is there a way to rename this Many thanks RanaRana_SenojakNov 25, 2024Brass Contributor80KViews30likes38CommentsPlease add Markdown support
Please add support for Markdown editing/rendering. EverNote and Boostnote all support this, but OneNote still lacks this feature, while it remains so many developers' main notetaking tool. Take myself as an example, I enjoy its seamless integration with OneDrive and powerful search function, but find it difficult to properly take down coding related notes -- I was forced to format code snippets into monospaced font with shading to make them look like "code snippets". To elaborate the user story about this idea: The user can create a new "regular page" or a "Markdown page". If the latter, then Markdown tags entered are rendered as you type (e.g. #title, >quote, *bold*, `code`...) The user might also enjoy a "cell editing" mode (similar to Jupyter Notebook). So if the cursor is placed in a cell, then it changes to raw text view. And once escaped from this cell, it gets rendered. And maybe enable some Jupyter/VS Code stype shortcut keys, too (Alt+Up/Down to move the cell, Alt+Shift+Up/Down to duplicate the cell, Ctrl+Shift+K to kill a line, etc) This way notetaking will be more efficient/fun, and many developers would thank MS!frank-yifei-wangNov 20, 2024Steel Contributor112KViews173likes63CommentsUnable to Retrieve Attachments or Images from SharePoint List Using Web API
We have been developing a banner app for SharePoint but encountered an issue where we are unable to access images or attachments from the list created using the Web API. The endpoint we used is: https://oursharepoint.com/sites/Test/_api/web/lists/getbytitle('Banner')/items While we can successfully access other list columns, we are unable to retrieve attachments or images through this method. Interestingly, we were able to access them on our test SharePoint site.MohamedRKHNov 20, 2024Copper Contributor7Views0likes0CommentsQuestion about Team/Group Calendar
I’m curious if anyone has any answers or suggestions for the following scenario: Within my organization, I’d like to create a single M365 team containing all departments. Within MS Teams, each department would have its own Channel under that one all-encompassing team, where they could schedule meetings, communicate, share files, etc. Each department has roughly 5 team members and there are 8 departments, so let’s say this all-encompassing team will contain 40-45 members total. Each department schedules weekly status meetings. My vision is to have a single shared calendar containing weekly status meetings of all departments, and I’d like for all team members across all departments to be able to see that shared calendar, but here’s the challenge: I don’t want each team member to have all department meetings display on their own work calendar, so they’re not confused as to what meetings they actually need to join versus just be aware of, but only display meetings they are individually invited to. I would however like if they had the ability to see all team meetings if they are looking at the greater Team/Group calendar in Outlook. I also don’t want all team members to be notified about other department/channel meetings, for example if it’s cancelled or rescheduled. I only want them notified about meetings they as an individual are invited to. Is there functionality or workarounds that support this scenario? Thanks in advance!30Views0likes1CommentKeyboard Shortcuts Not Working
In Office for Mac desktop applications (e.g PPT v16.4.4) my keyboard shortcuts have suddenly become non-functional. For example, command-C does not copy, command-V does not paste. They are all "greyed out" in the menus (see image). I am running macOS 11.1 on 16" MacBook Pro. Anyone know a) why this is happening and b) how to turn them back on? I've done searching but have come up empty .dostrowerNov 16, 2024Copper Contributor37KViews1like25CommentsNot so Dark theme
Is there something that can be edited or is an option coming to enable a more contrasting but less harsh theme to MS365 apps and Windows? As I’ve got older I need to turn down brightness because the extremes in the current themes, White, Black, Dark Grey, are too harsh, but that doesn’t quite achieve what I need. A light grey, giving better contrast than white for those that need it but not so harsh and depressing as the dark versions, would be ideal. We’re lacking options at the light end of the spectrumaanthmjNov 11, 2024Copper Contributor51Views0likes1CommentCopying and Pasting from Word to OneNote
Hi folks, I'm trying to copy text and pictures from a Word doc to OneNote (UWP), and only the text comes across. I can't see any suitable options under Paste to change the format of what's pasted to include pictures. Is this expected behaviour? Is there a way to get pictures to come across as well?
