Surface laptop 7th & Thunderbolt 3 external display issue
Hello, I have a surface laptop 7th under Windows 7 with the snapdragon processor offering 2 USB 4 ports. I don't manage to get my external display working through thunderbolt 3 connection. When I go to the device controller panel, I see the serial bus constantly refreshing. Otherwise, Windows 11 and the graphic card drivers are up to date. Would really appreciate if someone can help me. Thanks12Views0likes0CommentsVarious multiple monitor issues on Surface Laptop Studio (1) since driver updates.
Issues started directly after NVIDIA - Display - 32.0.15.7344 or Surface - Extension - 14.54.139.0 both installed on 2025-10-21 Issues occur when a second monitor is attached, and either extend or duplicate screens is selected. Using only one screen has no issue. Checked with different cables, bypassing HUB and different monitors. All show the same issues. Issues are (but not limited to) 3D (Vulkan) applications in non full-screen mode glitch with a triangle like tearing between the frames. This is a screenshot from a derivate of the Vulkan tutorial. To illustrate the tearing I alternate the clear colour to black and green. With only one monitor selected (either one) the green flashes as expected. With two monitors, even with duplicate display(!), this tearing which seems to be the presentation not waiting for the chain to finish rendering. Again this was all fine before the update. In borderless full window mode it is okay, as the NVIDIA driver doesn't use the INTEL integrated swap chain. Clear type tech is not working, and text is chroma distorted. Happens in all apps, including Microsoft ones. I can literally have an app like visual studio running on the second monitor and the text has serve chroma distortion, and then I change monitor setting to just that monitor and the text is correct. and back and forth. General glitches on apps when resizing, frames of windows appear for a second.3Views0likes0CommentsLack of Information re Drivers
Could I make a request to Microsoft please. The Surface 7 snapdragon range of Laptops are fantastic, I cannot praise them enough, everything from a fully laminated screen, keyboard keys that don't go shiny like the Macbook Air, multiday battery life and build quality. But can we have a little bit more driver and software updates knowledge. I recently saw a bit of idle activity on my X plus (Desktop) and looked for a new Adreno driver. The Microsoft Surface updater said none. But then I found a Adreno XI-85 GPM driver version 31.0.121. 0 October 2025 This was obviously newer than 31.0.112.0 June 2025 so I installed it (Unzipped 600MB) Graphics are now a little snapper and gpu idle hunting has gone.10Views0likes0CommentsPoor Audio/Video Quality in Microsoft Surface Hub 3
When Teams meetings are hosted from our large meeting rooms using Surface Hub 3 85 inches devices, internal participants (both in the room or within the building) experience no issues - audio and video are clear and stable. However, when external participants join these meetings (from outside our network), external participants consistently experience: Poor audio quality: Voices intermittently cut in and out, particularly when someone is speaking from a distance away from the Surface Hub. Unstable video: The camera appears to struggle with focus, causing visual disruptions. This issue has been confirmed across multiple external users and locations, indicating it is not isolated to individual end-user setups.20Views0likes0CommentsQuestion about Microsoft Support Structure
My Surface Pro 9 needs what I think is an easy firmware repair. Is it possible to avoid shipping it to Microsoft? The part of the firmware that contains the SKU Model Number is corrupt. It shows as "OEMLO Product" instead of Surface Pro 9. That part of the firmware is protected. It can only be accessed by a Microsoft employee using internal tools and physical access to the Surface Pro. Microsoft Device Support offers only a mail-in program, which would mean a lot of work for everyone that's probably not necessary. I don't know much about Microsoft support structure. So I don't know if it's flexible enough for a kind-hearted employee with access to the right tools to fix this. I live near several large Microsoft facilities in the Washington DC area. I think it's a quick easy repair. It could save me and Microsoft Device Support a lot of work that's probably unnecessary. The corruption may have occurred either as a result of participation in the Windows Insider program or during a Surface Pro 9 firmware update in late August 2025. The absence of a valid SKU Model Number prevents Microsoft's driver package from repairing drivers. It also prevents both business and consumer versions of the Surface Diagnostic tool from running. Meanwhile the SMF Core Driver is not loading. I could probably fix that with the correct driver package, but the driver package won't run without the correct SKU number. Otherwise, the Surface works fine. So I can afford to wait until December 2025 to send in for a complete overhaul. That's when I'll be able to lose access to it for an extended time. The rest of the firmware seems to be okay. Other than the SKU model number the information, including the serial number, appears correct.30Views0likes0CommentsSurface Provisioning package
I need some assistance with MDM enrolment for provisioning packages. I can't find what credentials I should be using for building devices and thus after assistance please. When this option for Enrol in mdm is off, some devices have gone into Intune and some haven't. I can't think or see why this is happening. They go into Entra but not Intune. I thought this was a build issue with the devices but i've tried various i.e. upgrading from a Windows 10 teams room to Teams Rooms for Windows 11, and a build media of the New Teams rooms for Windows 11 but still the same issue. I understand i need to complete this Enrol in MDM, so I need some assistance as to what credentials i should be using please. Apologies, if this is a duplicate, for some reason i was certain i had published this yesterday but i can't see this post.27Views0likes0CommentsProvisioning does not add to MDM - Surface hub
When using the Windows Configuration Designer to create a provisioning package I'm unsure what to add for the MDM devices. Some devices seem to enter the MDM and some don't. Unsure if it's the build on these devices. I've looked for documentation and can't find any for what credentials to use for the following on the Enrol in device management I need to know what to enter for the following fields please. So that I can insure these devices populate into Intune. I don't know why MS make it so hard for this as the setup of the older 2s devices was much easier. Hello, since upgrading to the new Teams rooms for Windows for Windows 11 for Surface hub 2s, we've lost all the apps from the main screen. Users are now unable to run the Edge or Maps app. These are installed and available when you login as an admin however we do not want users logging in. Is there a way to get Maps to display on the main screen or where it also displays whiteboard. We do not want users logging in to the device with admin credentials or their own or that of the room devices. Is there a way users can do this through Teams, i can see Whiteboard through Teams but no other apps. regards Michael26Views0likes0CommentsApps on from Teams Rooms for Windows
Since upgrading our Surface hub 2s devices to the new Teams rooms for windows, we've lost the App options. I have users that use the Map app however this is now missing. They can run Whiteboard, however apps like Edge and Maps are now missing. We do not want them signing in to these devices like a PC user. So having the apps from the main screen was great, however these options are now gone. How do i get a user to use Maps? There's no options when running a Teams meeting to launch other app like Maps to share through Teams. I'm aware Edge is due to be added i think however we need other apps for users to use. These are available by the store, but you need to be logged in to access these apps. If someone can please assist me or advise if there's a way to get this running i'd appreciate this.28Views0likes0CommentsUnable To Install Canon Pixma G1010 With Microsoft Surface 7th Edition

Hi there, Been having issues with sleep on Surface Pro X SQ2. Essentially, when the lid closes, or it goes to sleep, it sometimes didn't wake up (needing hard restart) or rebooted / crashed during sleep. This has been going on for six or so months. I did a clean install which made no difference. After reading through event viewer, I think I have isolated it to ACPI\QCOM0472\0 - which is Qualcomm Location services - and the driver doesn't seem to install / has error messages related to it in device manager event viewer. I've disabled it in device manager and it seems to be helping. Presume its hardware related? Thanks47Views0likes0CommentsSurface Pro7 Typer Cover don't work
Hello everyone, I need your help. I have a Surface Pro 7, and a few days ago the keyboard cover stopped working. I have a Surface Pro 5 at home, and I tested the keyboard on the Pro 7, and it works fine. The controllers are up to date, and I don't have any drivers to install. Right now, the Surface doesn't recognize the keyboard. Now, an odd question: is there a key that turns the keyboard's Bluetooth on and off? I don't want to factory reset the Surface.43Views0likes0CommentsCertain keys on keyboard work inconsistently
I have rebuilt a Surface Laptop 3. I applied the most current firmware update. I applied all Windows updates. As I am typing, keystrokes are randomly missed. For instance, I will press the 'F' key and it may not recognize the key had been pressed. Additional keystokes to the same letter will then work. This is happening on a couple of keys. This is happening on more than one of our Surface Laptops and I don't think it is limited to the Surface Laptop 3. I don't feel it is a hardware issue. Almost feels like an interrupt issue that disrupts the recognition of the key being pressed. Help...49Views0likes0CommentsI have an unwanted driver called wdcsam64_prewin8.sys
Hello, I have a driver called wdcsam64_prewin8.sys. I am trying to remove it, but I can't. I tried to delete it using the command prompt, and it cannot be found in Device Manager. I have a Surface Book 2 with Windows 11, and the driver is blocking my memory integrity. I don't use any external drives or anything else, and nothing is connected to the laptop. It's still exactly as I bought it, with no changes on my part. I would be very grateful for any help! 😊 Best regards64Views0likes0CommentsUpdate on Microsoft Surface Laptop 13.8 X plus
This is a 9 month usage update on my Microsoft Surface 7 Laptop Snapdragon X plus. This laptop in my opinion is the best snapdragon laptop on the market and I now use it more than my MacBook Air M3. Reasons - Battery life is one to two days. Build quality is excellent. Thin bezels and thin bottom chin, edge to edge glass. Keyboard does not look worn and shiny. I do not like the keys on a MacBook Air M3, they look very worn after only six months use, The magnetic charger connection is very good. Better than the 13 inch USB C charger. Main usage - Office, internet, emails, PowerPoint, no gaming. The laptop is very fast. Snapdragon chips are definitely the way forward. Less heat, much more power efficient. Very stable. I will not be buying an Intel based machine again.63Views0likes0CommentsBoot Surface HUB 2S from USB leads to Bitlocker Recovery Loop

Unfortunately I get the BitLocker Screen and when I press Skip this Drive it leads my to following 2 options Continue starting Windows Recover When I press Recover I get following options from cloud local installation I cant select my USB Drive or get the chance to boot from USB. I´ve done and tried it so many times. I need help to boot from this USB. Any ideas?88Views0likes0CommentsSurface Hub 3 doesn’t rotate on Windows 11 Pro
Hi, I’ve got a 50” Surface Hub 3 that we’ve switched over to Windows 11 Pro. The thing is, we’re trying to get the screen to rotate — but it just won’t. We’ve noticed that it does work when running in Microsoft Teams Room mode, and also in the Windows 11 IoT admin mode. So what’s going on? Why won’t the Surface Hub 3 rotate when it’s running just Windows 11 Pro or Windows 11 IoT without Teams Room? Is there something we need to enable in the system? We even see the rotation icon in the taskbar, but clicking it doesn’t seem to do anything. Thanks!86Views1like0CommentsSurface Hub 3 doesn’t rotate on Windows 11 Pro

We manage our Surface Hubs with Teams Rooms Pro (and Intune where needed). The Windows default local administrator account is disabled during enrollment by the Deployment policy. Intune is configured to add an Entra group to the Local Administrators group, whose membership we manage with an Identity Governance policy. We are all set for administration. And if we were ever to be locked out of a Surface Hub, we would re-image it and begin again. During the Out-of-box experience, a new administrator account named ".\admin", with a well-known simple three letter password, is added to Surface Hub 3 devices. Presumably, the account is added a "convenience". All my testing and research has shown that this account is not needed or used. Is it safe to delete ".\admin" account? Or later, will I find Microsoft expected to use that account in some way? Thanks, in advance.133Views0likes0CommentsTrouble Activating Ultimate Performance Plan on My Surface Laptop
Hi everyone, I’m trying to enable the Ultimate Performance power plan on my Surface device. I’ve already used the command powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61, and it shows up in my system. However, when I try to activate it using powercfg /setactive [GUID], I get an “Invalid Parameters” error—even though the GUID matches exactly what was listed under powercfg /list. My current active plan is “High performance” (custom-made). Has anyone else encountered this issue on a Surface laptop? Is this plan blocked or incompatible with certain Surface models, or am I missing a step? Would appreciate any insights or tips! Thank you so much for your attention and participation.58Views0likes0Comments
