Surface Dock 2 stopped recognizing external displays
Hey everyone, I've had a Surface Pro 9 with a Surface Dock 2 for a couple of months now with 2 Dell U2723QE monitors connected via USB C. This setup was working great up until this morning where the 2 displays suddenly stopped working. After some messing around, I was able to narrow it down to an issue with the dock because if I connect the monitors to the surface directly they work fine again. It could just be a bad dock I suppose and I need to get a warranty claim setup, but it just seems strange that it happened so suddenly. I have a Surface Studio 2 that is dual boot between Windows 10 and 11 - it allows me to pick the OS the boot screen. Anyone successfully configured this one another Surface old enough to support Windows 10? The recovery images were helpful in getting this setup in the first place. i used disk manager to shrink the partition so I could dual boot configure the system. In theory I could dual boot Windows 11 and use one install to join the Windows Insiders while maintaining another partition/image for production versions of the OS… My ARM versions of Surface don’t seem to run the Hyper V/Windows Sandbox as easily as my handy old Intel versions do!
Surface Pro 7 & 8 Suddenly Not Loading Certain Websites and Apps
I moved to a new house and have all the same routers and services. After being here almost 2 weeks, both my Surface Pro 7 & Surface Pro 8 suddenly quit loading certain websites and apps. First noticed Twitter, then Amazon, speed test sites, etc on my Pro 8. Any app that requires internet access won't load. The device always shows that the device is connected to the internet. My email, calendar and some other sites load fine. I went through every diagnostic with a MS agent online and he finally gave up and considered it a hardware issue. The device was under warranty and so I shipped it in for service. I have a Pro 7 also, so I just began to use it. It was fine for about a day, then the same thing started happening. We have changed DNS services, gone through Surface Diagnostic Tool, updated, etc. Every other device in the house is working fine but the Surface devices. I finally got the idea to tether to my phone...and everything works!! So, if I get off of the internet in the house (which it has worked flawlessly with for 2 1/2 yrs) and tether to an outside source, it works fine. It has to be something peculiar to Surface devices. Anyone have any ideas?
Overheating problems with Surfaces
Since the temperatures have risen, we already have four devices(Surface Laptop & Pro) that are constantly throttling to the point of crashing due to overheating. Surface Support only allows us to replace the entire device, so I'll try it here. Are you also experiencing these problems? Did Microsoft provide a bad firmware update in this case?
Surface Pro7 Typer Cover don't work
Hello everyone, I need your help. I have a Surface Pro 7, and a few days ago the keyboard cover stopped working. I have a Surface Pro 5 at home, and I tested the keyboard on the Pro 7, and it works fine. The controllers are up to date, and I don't have any drivers to install. Right now, the Surface doesn't recognize the keyboard. Now, an odd question: is there a key that turns the keyboard's Bluetooth on and off? I don't want to factory reset the Surface.
Build Quality?
I have the original Surface Book. After about 2 years the screen started separating from the lid due to battery expansion and Microsoft replaced the unit even though it was out of warranty which was great. Now at nearly 7 years the screen has completely separated again and I am searching for a replacement but I'm unsure whether to trust another Surface. What does anyone else think about build quality compared to other brands. Should I consider a Surface Laptop? Thanks.
