Surface Pro 8 – Hardware-Liquid Damage
Device: Microsoft Surface Pro 8 Pre-incident condition: Fully functional, no known hardware faults Incident Details A small Coca-Cola spill occurred around the Type Cover (keyboard) connector area only Area exposed cleaned immediately No liquid exposure to USB-C ports, Surface Connect charging port, vents, or display Type Cover remained attached following the spill Device was left connected to the charger for approximately 3 hours after the spill, with the keyboard still attached Observed Behaviour (Following Morning) Device will not power on unless connected to AC power Investigated- Found liquid around type cover (nothing visible on the ports) When powered on: Boots normally Reaches Windows login After login and loading the desktop, the system shuts down abruptly without warning Shutdown occurs consistently after OS load No shutdown occurs during UEFI/POST Security / Firmware Event Device subsequently displayed a BitLocker recovery prompt Correct recovery key was entered System successfully decrypted and booted into Windows Device again shut down abruptly after reaching the desktop Current Status Device is currently powered off No factory reset, OS reinstall, or internal cleaning attempted Type Cover and charger have been disconnected No visible external corrosion or physical damage Assessment Context SSD, display, and CPU appear functional (successful OS load) Failure appears load-dependent and occurs post-login Behaviour suggests possible power delivery, embedded controller, or internal board-level instability No user-replaceable component has been identified as a definitive failure point Please advise on: Viability of the device for reliable continued use Whether the observed behaviour is consistent with recoverable hardware condition or non-economical repair Whether Microsoft recommends replacement vs. repair given the described failure pattern
Surface 8 pro - could‘t find a bootable operation system
Hi all, I have a problem with my surface 8 pro. This morning I got the error with the bootable operation system. After a research, I made a recovery stick with another pc. Evertning was working, I got the latest image from microsoft and also the instruction tomcreate the stick was working. the problem is, the surface 8 pro can not boot with this usb stick - I have every time the error. Next I made a normal Win 11 Bootstick with the official tool. This sticks works on my second Surface, but on the Surface 8 pro again the same problem. Also with the volume down push…it does not work. what can I do? Does the Surface 8 pro some special usb format option or does anyone have an idea (perhaps the ssd is the problem)? thx for the help. br benjamin
Type Cover will not Connect
I’ve tried everything — up-to-date, restarting, turn off and on, troubleshooting, running device tests—and I can’t get in contact with Microsoft customer service. My type cover for my surface pro 8 is magnetically connected but it won’t work at all and the connection won’t register in the tests. Without the type cover my surface pro is essentially useless. I can’t type on the keyboard or use the type cover mouse. I’ve submitted a ticket for customer service and haven’t heard back yet. A service repair is like $180 for a type cover!? I bought your device like 2-3 years ago and it’s still in great condition. Haven’t even dropped it once & it randomly stops working. Wtf. There doesn’t seem to be a scratch or anything. What could I do to fix this?
Best shape surface pro
Hi! I think surface pro 8 and 9 has best shape and design although they are exactly same only change is in processor and battery optimization , but still they are way better than surface pro 1-5 and much better than surface pro 6 and 7. Surface pro 8 has only graphite and platinum colours , while surface pro 9 has green and ice blue colour also. Thanks for reading the postSurface Pro 8 BSOD, help to identify why?
HI, Since a couple of month a rather stable Windows 11 (microsoft re-imaged) on a Surface Pro 8 has become extremely unstable. I experience BSODs daily. I'm rather "walked" in troubleshooting but this one doesn't pop out for me what's going down. Trying to figure if this is a software or hardware problem. I haven't found any correlation when it crashes, what I've got started and running. This machine got some installs. Edge Dev, Hyper-V and more. Machine is up to date with the support/driver files from Microsoft. WU is also up to date, nothing missing. I'm not sure but I think I experience the crashes when I've got either Edge or a Remote Desktop session running (using RDCman from Sysinternals). But they're user space application and should bring the system down. Anyone here with the skills to find out why if I provide a minidump?
Impossible pairing 2 bluetooth devices with Surface Pro 8
Hi all, This is the first time I write here so, first of all, thank you for all the support I've the Surface pro 8, with Windows 11 dev channel (last build) and I cannot connect my smartphone (Xiaomi MI 9 se) while the surface pen is already connect via Bluetooth. With other Surface (I had SP2, SP4 and SP5) it was possible. What's the problem? Is a bluetooth problem? a Windows 11 error? Xiaomi compatibility problem? (i don't think so becouse everithing works fine with my other Surface Pro devices)
