my word is bugged

Everytime i launch my word, it becomes like this, when i set the columns back and forth it fixes itself, i save and exit but when i open the same file again its still the same.

It is difficult to tell from the screen shot, but it looks like Read Mode. What happens if you press the ESC key (applies to Word for Windows at least)?
