Creating footer with different content on each page without disrupting the page numbering

I need to know how to keep my page numbers from restarting while following the steps on unlinking footer from previous page. I have followed all the steps in this how to- https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/configure-headers-and-footers-for-different-sections-of-a...

However, when following these steps, by creating page breaks, it is disrupting my page numbers. I tried following the steps without the creating page breaks and just unlinking the footers, and that doesn't work. 

It is a new requirement for my job, that I have to have page numbers and be able to have notes about each individual page in the footer.

There should be no conflict with having page numbers.

Take a look at the StyleRef Field.

You should not need section breaks for this and they will unduly complicate your document.
