Word- insert picture from device not working
I have inserted pictures without problem for years. Now ‘insert picture from this device’ produces nothing. There are no error messages. I can copy and paste the same picture into the document no problem. Also it will insert pictures from the internet. I have followed many suggestions without result. I have repaired the prog and also reinstalled it.Micky66Feb 07, 2026Copper Contributor12Views0likes1CommentIndenting in numbered list has gone haywire
My office uses custom Word templates that are updated to a legal software site, populated with an intake form through the same site, and then downloaded to our individual computers to edit as needed. The templates mostly use legal numbering under the Normal style. On Tuesday February 3, everything was working fine when I put my laptop to sleep. The next morning, I opened a Word document that I had downloaded from the legal software site and edited a week or two previously, and the formatting and indentation of the numbered lists was suddenly completely wonky. I had not changed any settings from the end of one day to the beginning of the next to cause this issue. In addition, I am the only one in the office of five people to be experiencing the problem. I contacted tech support, and the support person walked me through fixing the styles settings, and when that did not work, they uninstalled and reinstalled the entire Office suite. That also did not solve the problem. I'm completely stumped here; why would this issue suddenly arise with no input from me and also only affect my version of Word? And why didn't reinstalling the application fix it?? Details of the formatting issue: Normally, the numbering should look like this FIRST 1.1 The text goes to the right margin of the page and then wraps so that the second line is indented by the same amount. 1.1.1 The first sub-paragraph begins at the indentation of the text in the first paragraph 1.1.1.1 The second sub-paragraph starts the same way, etc. Now it looks like this: FIRST 1.1 The text begins closer to the number and goes to the right margin, then the second line is not indented to begin at the same point as the first line. When I click on the leading number (e.g. 1.1), some of the text jumps over to the right slightly. When I try to use the markers on the ruler to adjust the indentation, the text doesn't move at all. In addition, I can open a document, not mess with the wonky formatting but change something else, for example remove a watermark, then save and close the document, and one of my colleagues can open the same document and not have the formatting be messed up. Please help!m_cwelpFeb 05, 2026Copper Contributor139Views1like1CommentHow do I turn off copilot if it's not in the options?
This provided screenshot is what I get with Word Options. There are no copilot settings in Word Options in my copy of Office, I cannot find any way of turning it off, and yet copilot has gotten so much worse by giving me three suggestions (at the top of the window, suggesting what kind of content I should make) every time I open a new document. Copilot just keeps getting more intrusive, and I want to shut it off. The more it's shoved in my face, the less I want to use it. I don't know why you're making it so intrusive, I've never heard of anyone actually LIKING this stuff. Why would someone want suggestions as to what kind of document to make? It's far worse than Clippy could even dream of. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office yet, but I don't want to have to go through and change a bunch of options again (that I always forget, there are so many options that I have to change to make it usable, like turning off the awful Backstage when saving) unless it's truly necessary to fix this problem. If it gets updated regularly (like the update that gives three Copilot suggestions every time I open a new document), I don't see why reinstalling it would fix the problem. But maybe reinstalling is the answer--if it IS the answer, I just want confirmation that it has actually worked for other people, and not just a generic answer that hasn't been confirmed.KizzumeFeb 05, 2026Copper Contributor317Views0likes2CommentsFrame Text Direction Bug
Not sure when it started happening, but a former client recently contacted me regarding an anomaly with text direction in frames. They have a pleading document where the firm information (name and address) is included in frame located in the left margin of the document. The Text direction is set to run from bottom to top and consists of three lines of text. When the document is opened with Word: Microsoft® Word 2019 MSO (Version 2508 Build 16.0.19127.20302) 32-bit All three lines of text are scrunched up on the bottom line.cdrgregFeb 04, 2026Copper Contributor24Views0likes2CommentsHow to add a new field to existing XML Mapping
Hi, everyone! Good day! I've made an XML file which I imported to my doc using XML Mapping Pane -> (Add new part...) and I used it to map some texts. How could I add new fields to this XML Mapping? What I tried: I tried editing the XML file and then importing it again. As a result, I have two XML Mappings with the same name that act as completely separate mappings. I couldn't even find a way to delete the older one.SolvedProject03Feb 04, 2026Brass Contributor263Views0likes7CommentsOpen Word in same-sized and -placed window

Dit kost me onnodig veel opslag. Claudia1973Feb 04, 2026Copper Contributor4Views0likes0CommentsSpreadsheets in Word (Mac)
I use Word (standard version) to produce invoices, just basic word documents with an embedded excel spreadsheet. When I do this on my Windows PCs, I can edit the spreadsheets from inside Word and choose which cells to show in the document. When I do this on my Mac, editing the spreadsheet takes me to the full version of Excel, and I have no way of changing the visible area when back in Word. This is a real pain, as I'll often need to add rows to a table in an existing document, but these rows won't be visible and I can't find a way to show them! Can anyone give me any advice on this? Hello The page break on 365 word docs don't work properly. The create an enormous space between one page and the following, making it very difficult to work with for presentation, taking into account that the company only allows these type of docs to work with. In the attach image you can see how large these breaks are with the circles in red. I've tried all options in paragraph options but it doesn't word. I've tried help with the assistance of an AI but it has given up saying there might be some limitations to these type of pages. Anyone know what I can do to avoid these large page breaks in 364 Word docs?
