Moving from Dev to Beta Channel for Windows 10 Insider Builds

Copper Contributor

Hi, I have been using Dev builds for Windows 10 for many months, but recently the builds have been quite glitchy (as expected) with my laptop in particular.

I want to move back to Beta or Release Preview builds, but after changing the channel to Beta in the Windows Insider Program settings, how do I go about installing the latest beta build without waiting for it to catch up to the dev builds and without doing a clean install.

Any help would really be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hi, you can use Windows update to go to higher levels, from stable to release preview, to beta, to dev, but if you want to go backward, you need to clean install Windows again.
that's the only way.

you can grab the latest Windows 10 stable from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Windows insider ISO files from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewiso

good luck!
