SharePoint 2019/SE + News webpart missing features
Hey all, I am currently testing on a Sharepoint SE installation and one thing I have noticed, is that the News webpart has zero build in functionality? Things like content sources, types and filters are all missing, the only thing I have available is three different layouts? My first thought was, "oh well that's On-prem for you", but then I find out that the Highlighted content webpart does in fact have these features, so clearly this is not a matter of this stuff just not working ON-prem, but a case of this being deliberately left out of the News webpart? I get that MS want's everyone to move into the cloud, but this is ridiculous. Or am I missing something here?481Views0likes0CommentsAutomatic reboot
Hey I am looking to understand whether or not there is a way to prevent Azure servers from automatically reboot? I recently created a new server to run a migration from, but the server did a reboot in the middle of the night halting the migration. This is a rather lengthy migration and we need to make sure a reboot like this does not happen again, since the migration will not automatically resume. I do suspect the first reboot happened due to windows update rolled out some updates on the new server and then did a following reboot, but I was wondering if Microsoft have some kind of system in place, that periodically reboot servers whether you like it or not. I hope someone can clarify this for us.853Views0likes1CommentMover.io - Destination site creation and user mapping
Hi, I am preparing a migration from Google workspaces to Office 365. However I am uncertain if the migration process will create the SharePoint sites needed as destination sites automatically, or do I need to create them beforehand and then do some kind of mapping afterwards? Also what about creating a .csv file with user mappings between Google workspace and Office 365 ? The guide I can find on this matter does not really explain this. Anyone know this?1.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Pinned app not visible to users
Hi Christian, Thank you for replying. It was done last week, so even with a delay I would assume it was rolled out at this point. I checked up on the policy and the users reporting the issue are assigned the same policy as my user for whom it works ( no users report being able to see it, so I assume this is an issue for all users). I also thought it might just be a matter of a quick login/logout but that didn't help either. Than I thought, ok this might be a problem with the Teams client, so I had the users try via the browser version, but again no dice.6.7KViews0likes1CommentPinned app not visible to users
Hi all, As an admin, I have uploaded a PowerApps app to Teams admin center. In my Org wide settings I have following setup: For my permissions policies in the custom apps section, I have configured that this particular app i allowed and all others are blocked. This is done on the Global (Org-wide default) policy which is the only on in use at the moment. For setup policies, also using Global (Org-wide default), I have added the new app and pinned it on top. Now when I access Teams with the same account used for the configurations, I can now see the pinned app just as expected. That's all fine, but for some reason no other users can see it? They can search and find it in the app store, but the pinned app is not showing for anyone else than me? Clearly I am missing something here, but I can't figure out what it is. Any ideas?7.1KViews1like7CommentsSharePoint 2010 + load data from old database
Hey After moving from SHP 2010 to SHP 2019, I need to review the audit log data from one of the old content databases. Since I did a content migration using ShareGate, and not the good old attach database approach, the old audit log data is only present in the old databases. So the question is, how can one access that old database? Is there some kind of tool that can look into the database? I am trying to avoid having to do the whole database attach thing, since I am thinking that would require that I first upgrade that old database to SHP 2013 and SHP 2016 before I can actually attach in SHP 2019. Any ideas on this challenge? -ML800Views0likes1CommentMigrating OneDrive between two tenants
Hi all, I am planning a migration of OneDrive for business between two tenants. The how I got pretty much worked out, using either the build in tool in O365 or ShareGate. But I am wondering what to about the source OneDrive during migration. It seems like a good idea to somehowe set all users OneDrive to read only or something like that during the migration, but I dont really see any method of doing this from within O365. Any ideas on how to do this the smartest way? RegardsSolved1.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: HUB site sync permissions not working
Hey ArefHalmstrand, Thank you for replying. I did configure that, but I have come think of something else. Is there a licens requirement that could be in play here? The user can log on to SPO and navigate on all sites in the HUB, but I am wondering if the search part of this could be licens related.3.8KViews0likes3CommentsHUB site sync permissions not working
Hey all, Has anyone experienced any issues regarding sync of HUB site permissions? I know it takes up to 4 hours for permissions to sync out and the users I am testing with did gain access to alle sites in the HUB after some time. There is however issues with seeing news for this user, since news on the main site cannot be viewed by my test user. The test user is only seeing this: I know for a fact there are news posts available and if the users navigates to the site pages library and clicks on one of these news, it will be displayed fine for the users, so it doesn’t seem to be a permissions issue. What the user however cant do, is returning any search results for any of these news or any other content for that matter, but the user can search for people and that works fine, so I am thinking the News web parts is leveraging search to fetch content, which would explain why the users cant see the content that should be on this web part and also why content search does not work for this user. Search and news works fine for others users that are not added via HUB sync permissions. Any idea what to do here?3.9KViews0likes5CommentsChange main HUB site URL
Hey people, I have been building a new intranet in SharePoint Online. It is build using a HUB that contains several site collections and has a heavy use of the HUB navigation. All that is fine, but I am now in a situation where I need to change the URL of the main HUB site and as it turns out that is simply not possible. All others site collections can be changed, but for some reason the main HUB cannot be changed. In my test enviroment I did however manage to change it anyway by disassociating the main HUB from the HUB itself. Needles to say this "removes" the entire HUB and all of the other site collections in the HUB are no longer associated with it obviously, but it also allowed for a change of the URL since the site in question is not longer a main HUB site. Afterward I went in and associated the site with the HUB again and it seems SharePoint remembered this HUB, since I could chose to associate my site to a HUB that essentially no longer existed. But this being a test I did just that and lo and behold, the HUB was recreated and all of the site collections that was in it before was automatically associated again and everything seems to be working fine. Now...that is all fine and well to test on a HUB where there is no risk involved. Another thing is to do this on an Intranet ready to go live. So the questions is...even though this is possible, MS has put this restriction in there for a reason but why? There is an easy work around, but what is the consequence of doing this? Has anyone else tried this work around? And what are your thoughts on this?7KViews0likes1CommentRe: HCWP - Custom query from selected site
Hi ganeshsanap , Ok that seems to have done the trick. There is however one more thing. Now that content is being fetched by the webpart, two items are shown in the webpart, but there is only one item in the list. As you can see here, there are two items being shown. The one with the red crossovers is the actual item in the list, but the other one "IT-IT Status", is actually just a link to the list itself and I really dont understand why it is present here. My guess is that it has something to do with content types, but I can't say for certain.2.9KViews0likes2CommentsRe: SharePoint Online Suite bar
Hi ganeshsanap Yeah it turns out it was a bit buggy. The color was already set to black, but it was not applied for all users. Switching the color to blue saving and switching it back to black did the trick. So in short: Use the ol' switcheroo trick on this one2.9KViews1like1CommentHCWP - Custom query from selected site
Hi all, I am trying to use the HCWP to fetch some content from outside the site collection where I have placed the HCWP. For this purpose I am using a custom query in order to get content from a specific list, this does however not work and no content is shown. This will most like be caused by me having no idea how to properly make use of KQL. I am using this query: Path: https://****.sharepoint.com/sites/*****/<listname> I found that in another thread that seems to be dead, so I decided open up a new discussion about it. Does anyone have any idea how to accomplish what I am trying to do, or if it is even possible?Solved3.1KViews0likes5CommentsSharePoint Online Suite bar
Hi, I am looking to change the color of the suite bar for SharePoint Online for all users. As far as I know, this is done from the 365 admin center under Org settings->Organization profile->Custom theme The suite bar is however already set to black, but for some reason the users still see the bar as blue when they work in SharePoint Online. So the question is, is there any other place where this color can be changed, or is it just this under custom theme this can be done?Solved3.4KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Migrating from Classic Online to Modern Online
Hi Kelly_Edinger , Yeah I thoughts as much. My first concern is that,if you have a lot of content, then moving it via the "copy" functionality in the libraries may not be the optimal way to go. In this case we have around 50GB, so not a whole lot, but still a lot of data to move in this manner. The second concern would be metadata. I just did a test run where I copied content from a library in a classic online site collection, to a new library in a modern online site collection. And to no ones suprise, metadata was not carried over and now the created by and modified by columns are set to the account the files was moved with. To some, especially admins, this may be a minor issue, but the users of the sites sometimes see this as quite a big problem. But it seems the only way out of this, is to invest in a 3rd party tool that you only use once. I do realize ShareGate has a free licens, but as all good products like ShareGate works, the free licens does have limits in how much data you can move as far as I remember, which is obviously totally fine.1.2KViews0likes0Comments
