Views on the document card

I may not be calling it by the correct name. In O365, when I click the ellipsis on a document in a document library, a card displays (see image) in the upper right it shows # of views. Does this represent unique views or total of every time the document has been viewed - whether it's a unique visitor or visitor that has viewed the document several times?

The related discussions that display are not for my situation. My card does not show names. It only shows # of views. What I need to know is - the # of views, does this represent unique views? Or, is it # of total views? Thank you.
