Enable versioning on a large library

Hi everyone

I have a large library with around 50,000 documents at the moment which currently has versioning disabled.  I have been playing around with the new trigger in Power Automate called When an item or a file is modified, but to use this versioning has to be turned on.

My question is will I run into any issues turning versioning on for a library that already has 50,000 files in it?  I've never done this on a library of this size and it's a production library to boot so I don't want to turn it on and cross my fingers :)

I'd highlight storage management as something to be careful of here.

The two characteristics here are your file size and how many versions you want.  The size matters as any extra versions will take a chunk out of the site storage.  For instance, a file that is 25 MB with 5 versions would have a 125MB foot print.  If your Power Automate is likely to create lots of versions over a small amount of time this is where you may have some issues.
