Assign tasks to none directory names/responses

Is there any way using project for the web to assign tasks to words.

No, it is not possible to assign tasks to words (what I would describe as Generic resources). You can only assign tasks to human resources that are part of the team you build for the project. Hope this helps.

@Dale Howard Hey dale, there used to be an option to "just assign" to someone and would accept pretty much any name to my recollection, is this not a capability anymore?

The feature you are describing is in the Microsoft Project desktop application, but it is NOT in the Project for the Web application. Sorry, but hope this helps.
