Cashflow Visual report export
Hi, When I export from Visual reports using the cash flow template, my data uses Years, Quarters, and Weeks. This is fine; however, I want to edit this data. I want to show actual sequential dates, not week numbers, and I want to modify the start date of a Quarter as our business does not follow calendar quarters. There are no fields in the Pivot table selection boxes with dates, and I don't seem to be able to edit the edit section to show the date prior to export. Does anyone know how to change this? Thanks.Solved35Views0likes3CommentsRecent changes could not be saved. Refresh the page to undo the changes and continue working
Hello, Over the past few days I have experienced challenges with the Project for the web part. It consists of changes not saved in the project folder. Instead, this error message appears. "Recent changes could not be saved. Refresh the page to undo the changes and continue working. Correlation ID: 6883f5fd-35f0-4bef-8423-8e5bf2dfd36f" What does this mean and what must be done so that I can use Project for the web again? Hello, I'm looking to see if someone can help me find how to change the order that pages are printed in Project. Personally, I know this doesn't matter because you can just line them up as you like, but my job has me make PDFs of them as well and my boss would prefer the order to be different, so if possible I'd rather find a way to make it do it the way he'd like automatically than me re-arranging the PDF pages and editing the page numbers. Essentially, they want it to show the entire date line of the gantt chart first before showing the next set of rows. I've attached 2 screenshots of the print preview, one is the order it currently is (focusing on the rows first) and the 2nd is the order my boss would like (focusing on the gantt chart dates first). Is this possible and if so, how do I go about setting it up?51Views0likes3CommentsData access after Project Online (PWA) retirement
As the retirement of Project Online (PWA) approaches, some questions have come up regarding what will happen to the data and related content. I’d like to ask if anyone has information or guidance on the following points: What happens to the data currently stored in Project Online after the retirement date? Will this data still be available for viewing, export, or migration after that date? If so, for how long? Regarding the SharePoint sites linked to PWA, will they remain available? Will it still be possible to access or modify their content? Does Microsoft plan to publish official guidance on this transition? Any references or practical experiences on this topic would be greatly appreciated.Solved349Views1like10CommentsA colored column representing holidays
I am looking for ideas as to how to create a transparent, colored visual column within an MS gantt chart representing a date range that correlates with the Christmas holidays. Basically, just a vertical bar crossing all tasks that visually indicates the holiday date range (say 12/22/25- 01/02/26) so that as you scroll through all your tasks, that bar remains constant in the gantt chart. I can do a single date bar using Status Date, but have not found a way to perform a similar function for a date range. Any ideas or tricks?Solved57Views0likes1CommentImporting csv file error
For years i am successfully using a csv file import via a certain mapping. All of a sudden this stopped working last week with multiple users. Seems there is an issue with MS Project on this. Does anyone know more or have a workaround? Thanks in advance!28Views0likes0CommentsUse Save for Sharing for Colleagues who Don't have Project Pro?
You need Project Professional to open schedules from Project Server and publish updates/changes. We have individuals in our organization who only have Project Standard, but need to provide input into the schedule. Should we use the Save for Sharing feature so that these people can update the schedule in their version of Project Standard, then the schedule Owner in Project Server can then check in the project with those updates? If we do this, how do we handle the Enterprise Objects (resources, calendar, and custom fields) which the Project Standard user doesn't have access to?Solved35Views0likes2CommentsLOE Tasks in Project Server
What is the proper way to reflect LOE (Level Of Effort) tasks in MS Project? For example, adding a task showing the PM working 10% of his time on the project, for the duration of the project. If we simply give that task a duration equal to the project, then Project cannot determine the correct Critical Path of the project. In addition, if the project duration changes, the PM will have to manually change the duration of the PM task. If we try linking this task with SS and FF relationships, the duration remains 1 day unless we input the duration, in which case we still have to update the duration as the project progresses. I have tried creating a hammock LOE task by copying and pasting links to the first and last tasks, as described in TenSix Consulting articles https://tensix.com/creating-loe-tasks-in-microsoft-project/ and https://tensix.com/more-about-level-of-effort-tasks-in-microsoft-project/ . However, this does not work in my version of Project Professional. I am only able to link either the starting date or finish date, but not both. Does anyone here have experience with scheduling this type of LOE task in MS Project? We are using on premises Project Server. We want to schedule this type of PM oversight task to plan for the estimated hours of PM time over the span of the project, have the task duration update dynamically if the project duration changes, and be able to status this PM task during the project to reflect the "actual" and "remaining" hours for the task as the project progresses.10Views0likes0Commentssave forecasted data
at time 0 I create the planning, which i baseline in bsln0. at time increment 1 I update the planning with the real start/finish/ %complete (and %real work in case I want to perform SPI/CPI, ...) and I save it into baseline 1; at the same time increment 1 I make a simulation of what will be at the time increment 2. The question is: how do I save this forecast in the same file (I do NOT want to create copy of that file) without corrupting the actual data (actual start, actual finish, %complete), that I want to compare whit the real status when the time will be at the effective calendar increment 2? thanks in advance22Views0likes1CommentSchedule Opens in Read-Only Mode from Conference Room Computer
In Project Server, a Project Manager opens his schedule on a conference room computer, but it opens Read Only mode and the PM is not able to check it out and edit/publish the project. We made sure it was not already checked out, and the PM is able to open, edit and publish this schedule from his work station. As far as we can tell, this problem only occurs when opening this one schedule from the conference room computer. We have cleared the cache as described in this handy article: https://www.dalehowardmvp.com/force-check-in-stuck-projects/ but this didn’t solve the issue. I have seen another article https://www.dalehowardmvp.com/how-to-fix-corrupted-files/ about using Save for Sharing to correct possibly corrupted schedules. My question is: would doing this cause any issues since we are accessing the schedule from a conference room? We do not want to adversely affect the way the PM opens this project from their work station. Does anyone have an experience with schedules opening from the PM’s work station but opening Read-Only when accessing PWA from a conference room computer? Would Save for Sharing help in this instance? Thank you35Views0likes2CommentsTeam Assignment Visibility in Project Server
In on-premesis Project Server, I want "Engineering" Team Members with "My Task" Global permissions to be able to see all tasks that have been assigned to a generic resource that is also part of the Engineering Team Resource Assignment Pool. Then, they can self-assign or simply update the status of these tasks. The PM initially resource-loads the schedule with the generic resource, then when the project starts, we want the various teams to be able to see tasks and provide status updates, without the PM needing to manually assign resources to individual tasks in the schedules (other than the generic resource loaded when the schedule is built). What permissions in Project Server do we need to enable in order for these team members to see all tasks assigned to their teams? Using the BUild TEam page, we have added the Engineering Team Resource Assignment Pool and the individual team members to the project team, but they cannot see the project schedule or any tasks in Project Server.44Views0likes2CommentsWhat is a best practice for linking Just-In-Time Tasks?
In MS Project, what is a best practice for linking Just-In-Time tasks, so that a task is scheduled to take place just prior to another task, without use of date constraints or overriding scheduling logic? As an example, I have a task "task prep" that I want to complete just before "important task" starts. "Important task" has other Finish-Start predecessors that determine when it starts. The only thing driving "task prep" is that it must finish just before "important task" starts. These tasks have slack in the schedule that I want to maintain, so I can't use As Late As Possible constraint without pushing both tasks to the right and using up slack. There isn't a task preventing "task prep" from starting, so if I link "task prep" as a predecessor to "important task" with Finish-Start (FS), with As Soon As Possible, then "task prep" will be scheduled to happen long before I want to perform that task. If I use Start-Finish (SF), then the start date of "Important task" drives the finish date of "Task Prep" The dates line up, but SF dependency type is generally not recommended. Also, I do not want to use date constraints, as these are generally not recommended. How can I link these tasks so that "task prep" finishes just before "important task" while adhering to accepted scheduling standards?143Views0likes4Commentsshell.js error when loading schedule tab in PWA

Using on-premises Project Server, there is a way to mark a task as a Deliverable in Project (thru Manage/Edit Deliverables button in Project Professional) and Project Server will display those deliverables on the PDP / Project Site page in Project Server. Is there a way to create a view or report which shows all deliverables for all projects that are currently in Project Server? This way, people do not have to go into each individual schedule or PDP to see all upcoming deliverables for the company.Solved66Views0likes1CommentWhat MS Project Online Retiring Means
Hey all - there is probably a decent amount of confusion as to what the recent announcement from Microsoft regarding Project Online means and who it affects, so I made a video to explain. Hello Community, I am asking assistance for an easy issue but so annoying: when I save a MS Project file, the row modified loses its Task Name, overwriting itself, with apprarently no reason. It is so crucial to not overwrite because I lose my work team references. Here a breakdown: I have create a MS Project file named "PROJECT MASTER PLANNER". I have imported SubProjects on the rows. I modify one or more SubProject directly on "PROJECT MASTER PLANNER". I click "Save to All" or just "Save". The SubProjects modified lose their Task Name, overwiritng automatically with "78.25_rev01". 78.25_rev01 was my first MS Project ever imported on "PROJECT MASTER PLANNER", that i do not use anymore. Below a couple of screenshot. Many thanks to whom will help me, it is blowing my mind ! AndreB. SCREENSHOT 1/2 SCREENSHOT 2/278Views0likes3CommentsCrews in Planner in Planner/Project accelerator

Hi there, I have a master plan which brings together a number of subprojects. I want to display just the summary tasks of each subproject to show the phasing of our entire portfolio. Even though row height under the gridlines menu is set to 1, wrapped text is off, and there are no labels on the gantt above/below the bar (only inside), I can't seem to get rid of the white space between rows. We are using on-premises Project Server. The Enterprise Global Template has frozen such that once I open it, MS Project freezes and I can't get to the Organizer to remove custom views (Assuming a custom view has polluted the EGT, as the only thing we do in the EGT is create or modify custom views/tables/filters). How can I access the Organizer to "un-pollute" the Enterprise Global Template? Also, I saved our custom views in an mpp file. How can I tell which view is causing the problem with the Global Template, so I can prevent this from happening in the future? Any help would be greatly appreciated!12Views0likes0Comments
