Chat to other organisations with free version

Hi

I am using Free Teams

I am trying to chat with someone from another organisation, but when I put the persons email address, it says it cannot find any matches.  Is this a limitation with the free version, or is there a setting I need to change?

@bigmaz External chat (federation) is not available in Teams free edition. You can invite externals as guests in your tenant.
