Hello dear Microsoft/Bing Community!
I kindly ask for your help in understanding the issue of displaying the favicon in Bing search results.
My website doesn't show it neither for main page https://tictactoefree.com/:
nor for alternative language pages like https://tictactoefree.com/pl/:
For a correct implementation of the favicon, I followed the steps from Bing's forum:
Quote: "To display a favicon on Bing search results, the website must meet the following requirements:
1. The website must have a valid favicon file in the root directory of the website.
2. The favicon file must be in either .ico, .png, .gif, or .jpg format.
3. The favicon file must be at least 16x16 pixels in size, but it is recommended to use a larger size of at least 32x32 pixels.
4. The favicon file must be accessible and not blocked by any robots.txt rules or server configurations.
5. The website must have a valid sitemap.xml file, and the sitemap should include the URL of the favicon file."
Based on this, I added links to the image sizes 16*16 & 32*32 to the page code:
However, I did not follow the 5th step "5. The website must have a valid sitemap.xml file" and did not add a link to the favicon in the sitemap.
On the one hand, I have concerns about how Google might perceive a link to the favicon in the sitemap (whether it will affect ranking time), and on the other hand, I looked at other sites in the search results and did not find links to favicons in their sitemaps.
This is the code of competitor who does not have a favicon mention in sitemaps but is OK with displaying it in search results:
Could you please advise, perhaps I did something wrong in the code? And maybe there's another way to feed Bing my favicon so it could pull it into the search results? Or possibly my website has another issue I don't see.
Thanks in advance for any piece of advice!
PS. The problem still exists:(

I checked your source code of https://tictactoefree.com,
Find the code is quite right:
<link type="image/x-icon" href="/favicon.ico" rel="shortcut icon">
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="https://playtictactoe.org/assets/images/icon-16.png">
And the image file works well:
It is important to note that it may take some time for the Bing search engine to display the favicon of the site, as the Bing web crawler needs to scrape and update all the website data.

Bing favicon indexing is not good, it does not update it automatically I have been trying for months.
Only way is to contact support, and they will update it for you.
