Time format used to work, but not anymore in Excel

Not applicable

Hello.

I have a problem that occured today.

I have Timestamp values in format hh:mm:ss.000 (tt:mm:ss.000 due to my country).

Before (about 3 weeks ago) i could define my custom format and do calculations (time [sec]) with the format, see picture 2. Could also see that the alignment of the timestamp was at the right side, see picture 2.

Today, this did not work anymore. Tried to copy new Timestamp values into old (still working) Excel file, but this did not work either.

So suddenly, Excel wont recognize hh:mm:ss.000 anymore (tt:mm:ss.000 in my country)

Can this be fixed or is there another solution?

Very strange! Could you attach a small sample workbook demonstrating the problem (without sensitive data), or if that is not possible, make it available through OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or similar?

I've sendt you a PM :)

Thanks. What happens if you do the following?

  • Select column B.
  • On the Data tab of the ribbon, click Text to Columns.
  • Select Delimited, then click Finish.

This worked for me - the values are now right-aligned:

Hello and thanks for answer!

This is very weird.. I tried your method, but nothing happens.

When i downloaded your corrected "Help with timestamp" execl file, i can do calculations, as seen in picture below:

I tried copy and paste all my timestamps into your corrected file, but that did not work either..

I can try to delete and reinstall Excel, if you dont have any other options?

again, thanks for reply :)

Has anything changed in your regional settings in Windows?

Reinstalling Office may not be necessary, there should be a repair option:

  • Select Start > Settings.
  • Select Apps.
  • Scroll down the list of apps and select your version of Office.
  • Click the ... button on the right hand side and select Modify.
Hi

Havent changed any regional settings.
Problem not solved, but transfered the data to another computer and did time-calculations.
So i've achieved what i want, but the problem is still a mystery..

Thanks for suggestions :)
