Roster help

What am I doing wrong here? Using 365.

I want to have an assigned value to upper and lower case text.

To the right, I want to sum the values ( a numeric value).

Its a roster with text codes that indicate different hours for the different shifts

But as I plan the roster I need a sum total on the right, so I know if I have under or over allocated weekly hours...
