Putting an entire spreadsheet in maturity date order....I can only get the date column to sort righ

I cannot figure out how to do this

Make sure that you select the entire range to be sorted, not just the date column.

Here is an example:

If the data are in a single contiguous range, without empty rows or columns in between the data, it is simple:

  • Click in any cell of the date column (in the example above in A1, for example, or A2)
  • On the Data tab of the ribbon, in the Sort & Filter group, click the 'Sort A to Z' button: HansVogelaar_1-1680359456010.png

If there are empty rows and/or columns, as in the screenshot below:

  • Use the mouse or the keyboard to select the entire range:HansVogelaar_3-1680359650594.png
  • Use the Tab key to ensure that the active cell in the selected range (the white cell in the selection) is in the date column.
  • On the Data tab of the ribbon, in the Sort & Filter group, click the 'Sort A to Z' button, as above.
