How to change the default startup template in Excel for Microsoft 365

Copper Contributor

I am unable to change the default template for excel with one that I created. I added the book1.xltx template that I created to ALL the XLSTART folders under the trusted locations in Excel, but It still doesn't open the custom template that I created. I am using Office 365 and Windows 11 Enterprise.

I turned off the Start Screen when Excel starts, but it still opens the default workbook template instead of the one I created.

What am I doing wrong?

The template should be named Book.xltx, not book1.xltx

That worked! Thank you for your quick response.
