Copper Contributor

When applying any freeze pane setting during sheet view it affects everybody.

It should affect only my view.

If you are experiencing issues with the Freeze Panes setting affecting everyone in Excel 365, it might be due to the workbook settings or the specific sheet settings. Here are some steps you can follow to ensure that the Freeze Panes setting is only applied to your view:

  1. View Settings:
    • Make sure that you are adjusting the Freeze Panes setting in your own sheet view and not a shared view or the default view.
    • Check if the workbook is shared. If it is shared, certain settings might be applied globally.
  2. Workbook Sharing:
    • If the workbook is shared, you might encounter limitations on certain settings, and changes made by one user might affect others. Consider unsharing the workbook if it's not necessary for collaboration.
  3. Individual Sheet Settings:
    • Verify that you are making the Freeze Panes changes in the specific sheet where you want the setting to be applied.
    • If there are multiple sheets, ensure that you are activating the sheet where you want to freeze panes before making the adjustment.
  4. Protecting Sheets:
    • Check if the sheet is protected. Protection settings can affect the ability to make certain changes. If the sheet is protected, you might need to unprotect it before adjusting the Freeze Panes setting.
  5. User-Specific View:
    • Ensure that you are not using a shared workbook setting that enforces a consistent view for all users. Each user should have their own settings and preferences.
  6. Excel Options:
    • Go to "File" -> "Options" -> "Advanced."
    • Under the "General" section, make sure that the "Update automatic links at open" and "Update links to other documents" options are unchecked.

After going through these steps, try adjusting the Freeze Panes setting again. If the issue persists, it might be related to specific sharing or permission settings in your environment. Add more information to your topic if the issue persist. Information such as Excel version, operating system, storage medium, file extension, etc. The text and steps were edited with the help of AI.
