Conditional cell formatting

How can I highlight a cell once the value =Today() and then remains highlighted once the date has passed but future dates do not highlight until they are triggered by equalling Today() first?

You may apply conditional formatting rule like

Thank you for the reply.  If i do =<TODAY() then all the dates in the future highlight. I do not want the dates to highlight until the cell = Today but then remain highlighted once the day has passed.

Sorry, I didn't catch. If <=TODAY() all cells which have dates in the past and today are highlighted, cells with dates in future are not highlighted. Perhaps you could illustrate desired result on sample file or screenshot?
