Cannot print a Excel sheet

Copper Contributor

My printer is working fine, it prints word docs fine, only after the Microwanker POS has updated for the thousandth time it stopped printing Excel.   My drivers are up to date, I can only assume it is some stupid glitch with Microwanker

Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

  1. Check Printer Settings in Excel:
  • Open your Excel document.
  • Click on "File" in the top left corner.
  • Choose "Print" from the menu.
    • Make sure the correct printer is selected in the Printer dropdown menu.
  1. Print to PDF (As a Temporary Solution):
  • If you are unable to print directly from Excel, you can try printing the Excel sheet to PDF first and then printing the PDF document.
  • In Excel, go to "File" > "Print" > select "Microsoft Print to PDF" as the printer.
  • Click "Print" to create a PDF file.
    • Open the PDF file and try to print it.
  1. Update or Roll Back Printer Drivers:
    • Even though you mentioned that your drivers are up to date, it is worth double-checking. Visit your printer manufacturer's website to ensure you have the latest drivers installed.
  • If you suspect a driver issue after a Windows update, you can try rolling back to the previous driver version:
    • Right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager."
    • Expand the "Printers" section.
    • Right-click your printer and choose "Properties."
      • Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Roll Back Driver" if available.
  1. Windows Update Rollback (If Applicable):
  • If you suspect that a recent Windows update caused the issue, you can try rolling back Windows to a previous state:
    • Open the Start menu and go to "Settings."
    • Click on "Update & Security" > "Windows Update."
    • Under "Update history," click on "Uninstall updates."
      • Select the update(s) that might have caused the problem, and click "Uninstall."
  1. Excel Online Repair:
  • If the issue persists, you can try repairing your Excel installation:
    • Close all Office applications.
    • Go to "Control Panel" > "Programs" > "Programs and Features."
    • Locate Microsoft Office, right-click it, and select "Change."
      • Choose "Repair" and follow the on-screen instructions.

Remember to restart your computer after making any changes to ensure that they take effect.

Nikolino Thank you for the work around, I saved the excel file as a PDF and it printed. Seems this stupidity happens every time my computer is force fed some new MS crap and then I have to figure out how it works! A good analogy is that to start your car you have to lie on the ground in the wet and have someone else turn the key while you hit the starter motor with a hammer.
