Action in spreadsheet I can't remember how to do

Copper Contributor

Several years ago I created a workbook under an older version of Excel and can't remember how to do it.  If I click on a specific cell, a down arrow shows just to the right of the highlighted cell.  Clicking on the arrow gives me a list of data (a single column) from elsewhere in my workbook.  Selecting from that list places the data into the highlighted cell and then that info is used elsewhere within the sheet.  Don't recall what that function is called or how use/create/edit it

It's called by various names. "Data Validation" or "dropdown list" are perhaps the two most descriptive and most common. Here's a reference to it, and how to use it.

Thanks so much! That is exactly what I need. It has been a long time since I created the spreadsheet and the old gray matter ain't what she used to be.
