Check Performance

When you open your workbook, Excel can detect whether your workbook contains unwanted formatted cells that can slow down your workbook. If so, Excel suggests launching “Check Performance.“ You can also manually launch the feature from Review > Check Performance. Read the blog article, and see it in action here >

Assign a Task with @mentions

Assign a Task allows users to collaborate more effectively with their teams by creating and assigning tasks within their Excel worksheets and Word documents using @mentions in comments and tagging a team member.

Once a team member is assigned the task (by selecting the ‘Assign to’ check box to the comment to convert to a task and then clicking the blue arrow), they receive an email notification to let them know they have tasks to action. Read more >

Some potential suggestions for additional features or improvements that could be added:

  1. More examples: While the blog post highlights some of the key new features in Excel, it would be helpful to include more specific examples of how these features can be used in real-world scenarios. This would make it easier for users to understand how to apply the new features in their own work.
  2. User feedback: Gathering user feedback on the new features in Excel and including it in the blog post could also be valuable. This could include comments from users who have already tried the new features and can offer insights on how they work in practice.
  3. Tips and tricks: In addition to highlighting new features, the blog post could also include tips and tricks for using existing features in more effective ways. For example, providing shortcuts or lesser-known functions that can help users save time and improve their productivity.
  4. Future roadmap: Providing a glimpse into the future roadmap for Excel could also be helpful for users who want to stay up to date on what's coming next. This could include information on upcoming features, improvements, and other changes that are in the works.

@Microsoft Excel - Can you please add a column to your "Check if a specific feature is in your version of Excel" chart for Office LTSC 2021?

Thank you.

Will you guys have a blog post soon about what Office CoPilot for Excel will be able to do? Excited to see all the possibilities...

I imagine the LLM will ultimately replace a lot of the ML stuff you've added in the past few years that isn't as powerful.

@Microsoft Excel

The Check if a specific feature is in your version of Excel table is really great

Though, something might be confusing (or I miunderstood something): the name of the tab is Updated October 2022

@Microsoft Excel
Hi would it be possible to have the ability to use @mentions in a cell value?

I Love "Formula Argument Assistance." Can't wait for it to be available for LAMBDAs - literally - so I'm coping without it like this. When a user's arguments cause errors, the LAMBDA's documentation displays. Hopefully this can help others and hopefully @Microsoft Excel will make this obsolete soon.

Just a quick shoutout to whomever changed the behavior of arrow keys while editing a formula. It used to select random cells, now it just moves the cursor in the formula. Holy does that make life easier. That and Advanced Formula Environment :)

@Microsoft Excel

When using RTD server, Excel worksheet updates freeze when mouse is clicked or worksheet scrolled. Can this be fixed to so it has similar behavior to normal COM server?

When using a COM server add-in, Excel typically only stops updating when a cell enters edit mode. The COM server will continue to update cells when mouse is clicked or worksheet scrolled.

How can I add chatgpt to excel 365?

I prefer to have Excel Cell Function on Excel Web; as-is, I have to switch to Desktop Edit but when blocked in public computers, do I carry a Windows Laptop (with Tablet, Smartphone for our digital AND also work-anywhere environment)? just to use Excel Desktop?

Sheet name function reduce creation of next Helper Sheet(s) if it indirectly reference Sheets that start with same name.

INDIRECT(TEXTAFTER(CELL("filename",A1),"]").....)

This is my stopgap measure of using functions that work across rows only like MMULT but Date are in columns.

I am adding a sheet

Sheet_Local_Currency_Months-In-Columns

Sheet_Local_Currency_Months-In-Columns_Transposed

Without Sheet Name function, I need to hand transpose every Sheet.
