2026.02.20 - Planner UI update is worse
The UI changes to Planner within the latest Teams desktop app update (version 26032.208.4399.5) has regressed in its functionality and is worse than before. Previously, all of the contents of an item in the Planner were visible at the same time. Now I have to tab between Task Details, Attachments and Checklist, and am unable to view these at once, which has become a critical workflow for me. It is extremely irritating, as I've developed a workflow around how Planner was presented (which was that everything within a task was visible at once), and now it has been compartmentalised. Please unwind this - it is a regressive update and provides less information and requires more interaction to work through the detail of a task.496Views10likes8CommentsIssue when opening Planner via browser
Hello everyone, we are currently experiencing an issue when opening Planner via browser: every time, the sign-in screen appears and we are asked to sign in with our Microsoft account. This happens even though we open it directly via https://planner.cloud.microsoft. After we sign in, close the browser, and open Planner again, we are prompted with the sign-in screen once more. While checking the cookies, I've noticed that no authentication information was created when signing in via direct url. Using https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps/ and open Planner from the Apps section, it creates authentication information in Edge / in the cookies. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is this a known / general problem?142Views0likes2CommentsMicrosoft Project Service Core Jan 2026 Update locked Plans table
We recently noted the Microsoft Project Service Core was updated to 1.0.161.1772: This update has locked our Plans table, no changes are allowed to the forms and creating new columns is greyed out: We cannot make use of Planner in our model driven app (Planner Premium, non-default environment). After a new Plan is created, the user receives this message when opening the Plan: Two days ago we were in this version 1.0.160.2874): and everything was working as expected. Any guidance would be much appreciated as we are not sure if this is a permanent lock or once the update cycle is completed we will be able to go back to edit Plan forms and columns. Thank you in advance1.4KViews9likes11CommentsScheduling for public/bank holidays
Is there a way in Planner (Plan 3) where public holidays can be added to the projects calendar and can be selected under the “choose from template”. I’m wanting a plan that takes into account public holidays when scheduling the duration of the tasks.63Views0likes1CommentGuidance on Planner Premium, Dataverse and Power Automate
Hoping this title invites you to share more knowledge around Planner Premium, Dataverse and working with Automate Scenario: I have a user inside our company saying i need access to Dataverse since he wants to automate some task creation with regards to planner premium. I am pretty ok with that, so he needs a Power Automate Premium license. Although looking at the data in the Projects data tables in the default environment their business units are the root BU - getting a little concerned. Are all projects and related data available for all people that can read the Dataverse tables? If you have some insights or experience please comment :) Could they develop that in a development or sandbox environment before piping it to a designated environment? but there are no Projects tables in dev or in sandbox environment. Main problem: there's so much information about planner and power automate that it's impossible to actually find any guidance around this scenario amongst all classic planner hits274Views0likes1CommentPlanner release Custom Templates
From the ignite series pack, about Publishing a plan as a Custom Templates, the screen shot shows “Goals”, which I understand is only available in Premium Plans. Can you create Custom Templates from a Simple Plan? Or is it only available in Premium? Or is this screen shot showing post the feature where Simple and Premium Plans are combined into one? Is the combining of Simple and Premium Plans also being deployed as part of this major release?176Views0likes0CommentsPlanner Major release Custom Templates
microsoft are there any support materials or steps on how users will create Custom Templates? What are the sequence of steps users need to follow to be abel to "Publish as Template" This slide is from the ignite pack. I'm building end user support materials to educate users about the upcoming release. I can't see these changes ahead of my users.70Views1like0CommentsPlanner major release @ mention feature
1.Can you misnomer someone who is not assigned to Task, but a member of the MS 365 Group? Or can you only misnomer someone assigned to the Task. E.g. Mary Jane is assigned the Task and wants to misnomer on of her direct reports (Todd Jones) that is helping gather info for the task. however Todd is not assigned to the Task. Can Mary Todd?38Views0likes0CommentsPlanner major release new Task feature and E5 licenses
microsoft Is the new Task Chat feature available for E5 licenses? It’s not listed in the notes in the message centre https://admin.cloud.microsoft/?https://admin.cloud.microsoft/? - “Microsoft Planner will add a new service plan enabling task-based chat for improved collaboration, rolling out worldwide in early January 2026. This feature will be ON by default for eligible licenses, including Planner Plan 1, Project Plan 3 and 5, and Dynamics 365 Project Operations. No immediate admin action needed.”166Views0likes0CommentsPlanner major release
microsoft what does this statement in the Message centre MC1193421 mean about Comments and Tasks on Planner. I thought the change was regarding Comments going away? “There are no changes to email notifications for the existing task comments experience, meaning that an email notification will be sent to all group members associated with the plan when a task comment is added.”255Views0likes0CommentsProject Manager agent in Planner
microsoft In the latest Ignite series pack about the changes coming with Planner I notice in the screen shots about the Task Chat that the Comments heading is still showing. In the Message Centre for the Major release coming mid Jan-mid Feb 2026 that the Comments is going away. Can you clarify if the screen shot is showing a Task that previously had a Comment on it, and is now showing the Task Chat pane? I'm preparing communications and end user support materials for this change. The Comments feature has been heavily used by one of my Executive stakeholders and I'm keen to explain what he can expect with this release come mid Jan. Hi, We recently implemented a Planner Premium setup for our Engineering Department to plan their work and do capacity planning. We wanted to leverage the "My Tasks" or "My Day" functionalities from the Planner app in Teams so that Engineers can execute the assigned tasks. Unfortunately, tasks from plans outside the default environment are not synced to the "My Tasks" or "My Day" functionalities in the Planner app in Teams. Anyone else experiencing the same frustrations? Any ideas how we can cope with this and if Microsoft has plans to allow that synchronization from non default environments to the Planner app in Teams? Thank you for your input. Nic.109Views0likes1CommentUpcoming Planner release @chat feature
in the upcoming release of Planner features, it mentions that the comments will be replaced with a chat. Do I assume that the chat and @mentions are tied to who is assigned to the Task? ie. if the Task is assigned to Mary, will I be able to type Mary but I won't be able to type John (as John is not assigned the task)? Tasks chats in basic plans will allow team members to collaborate directly on tasks using rich text formatting and @mentions, making it easier to discuss work and notify teammates about what needs attention.1KViews2likes11CommentsPlanner personal plan bucket deletion inconsistent across tenants
Hello, we are seeing inconsistent behavior when deleting buckets in Microsoft Planner personal plans and would like to confirm whether this is an expected limitation or a known issue. In a Planner personal plan that is not connected to Microsoft Teams or a Microsoft 365 Group, tasks can be deleted successfully but buckets cannot be deleted and return a 403 Forbidden error even when the DELETE request includes a valid If-Match header with the latest odata etag value. The same scenario works correctly in other tenants where bucket deletion in personal plans succeeds using the same API calls and permissions. We have confirmed that this issue is not related to retention policies such as Microsoft Purview because bucket deletion works in group based plans when performed by a Global Administrator. It is also not related to GPO or Intune policies, and the request format and permissions have been validated by testing both as the plan creator and as a Global Administrator. Based on this behavior, bucket deletion in Planner personal plans appears to behave differently depending on the tenant even when the scenario and permissions are the same. Could you please confirm whether bucket deletion in Planner personal plans is officially supported, whether this tenant specific behavior is an expected design limitation, whether this is a known issue that can be escalated as a bug, and whether there are any recommended approaches for managing or cleaning up personal plans in enterprise environments. Thank you. (403 Forbidden)27Views0likes0Comments
