Planner major release @ mention feature

1.Can you misnomer someone who is not assigned to Task, but a member of the MS 365 Group? Or can you only misnomer someone assigned to the Task. E.g. Mary Jane is assigned the Task and wants to misnomer on of her direct reports (Todd Jones) that is helping gather info for the task. however Todd is not assigned to the Task. Can Mary Todd?
