outlook contacts continuously restore themselves
I decided to clean out my contacts in outlook, so I exported them all out to a .csv file and then I deleted all 1,200 of them (100 at a time, because apparently microsoft feels that any higher amount would be bad...). Then I spent a few hours in excel combining, consolidating and deleting them down into about 600 contacts. When I went back into outlook and clicked on people, to my surprise all 1,200 of my original contacts were right there again as if I'd done nothing. I figured that some other device must be restoring (through some normal synching process), so I turned off **REMOVED** computers and phones that I've ever used to access outlook). Then I deleted all of the contacts once more, this time using the OWA webpage with my local outlook completely closed. Unfortunately, the exact same thing happens. After repeating that process several more times last night, I shut down my laptop and went to bed. I got up this morning, opened my local outlook app, clicked on people and there were no contacts there at all. For about 5 seconds I was happy, until all 1,200 of them instantly popped right back up like a really bad joke or a dream. Something either on my computer or (I suspect) on microsoft outlook servers is automatically forcing a complete restore of all my contacts. Two side notes: 1) I can create/add and delete single contacts and those changes seem to stick, and 2) I can delete all contacts except a single one and that seems to stick, and 3) I can import my cleaned up .csv file containing 600 contacts back into outlook (with only the one single remaining contact in there), it says that all 600 contacts have been successfully imported, and then within minutes - all 1,200 contacts are back right where they were in the beginning. The truly frustrating part about this issue (and most companies these days), is that IF the customers could possibly **REMOVED** about it so that we can simply continue to make and sell more stuff. It's very sad14Views0likes0CommentsConstantly being asked to reauthenticate accounts in Outlook for Mac
Hey everyone, I started running into a strange issue a few days ago. I am using Outlook for Mac Version 16.102.1 (25101829) with seven accounts configured. Out of nowhere, I keep getting repeated prompts to reauthenticate all my accounts. I use the Microsoft Authenticator app on my iPhone, get the push notification, approve the two digit code, and everything goes through fine. A few hours later, Outlook shows the same pop up again asking me to reauthenticate. I have gone through this process at least ten times now, and it keeps happening. Is anyone else seeing this issue or found a fix?27Views0likes0Commentswebcal links not opening correctly in outlook
I create a webpage with the following content TEST When I click the link, outlook opens and tries to add a calendar, but sets the URL to //www.mydomain.se/mycal It also complains my url is incorrect. I would have expected it to insert a link like https://www.mydomain.se/mycal Is this an issue with outlook, or am I doing something wrong? Changing the link into TEST will make it work. But this seems like an incorrect url and might break other integrations, I guess. Any ideas?17Views0likes0CommentsOutlook does not recognize language in E-Mail automatically
Since I have Windows 11 I have been having all kinds of problems with Outlook - from installing my e-mail accounts to getting language settings to work. I have tried using co-pilot to help me with this - it's been completely useless, as it seems to access only outdated info or points me in completely wrong directions. so I hope and appreciate that a real human being (three yeahs for you!!) can help me with the following: even though I have installed all my required language packs and set that it should automatically notice the language I am writing in, it fails to do so since my update. What is going on there? thanks a bunch for your assistance! Manuel17Views0likes0CommentsSearching for parameters
Hello, I have two questions about the latest version of Microsoft Outlook: Customizing columns: How can I add or modify columns in the email list view? I'd like to customize which information is displayed Replied message indicator: In previous versions, there was a small symbol (usually two arrows) that showed whether an email had been replied to. Is this feature still available in the latest version? If yes, how can I enable it to display? I'd appreciate any guidance on these features. Thank you in advance for your help! Hello Team, I noticed an issue on the Microsoft Tech Community site. If I open the main Tech Community homepage (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com ) and navigate to the Product menu, I correctly see an Outlook option. However, when I open any subpage and then check the Product menu again, I see "Microsoft 365 Copilot" listed twice. One of these entries is incorrectly mapped to Outlook instead of showing Outlook as its own product. For example, this is the correct Outlook category link: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/category/outlook This looks like a navigation or menu mapping error. I am not sure where exactly issues like this should be reported, so I am posting here. If anyone knows the right channel for reporting website issues like this, please let me know for future reference.
I recently got to try out Microsoft 365 Copilot’s Prioritize My Inbox in both New Outlook and Classic Outlook—and honestly, it’s a game-changer! I was away for a few weeks, so when I came back, my inbox was a mess. Important emails were tangled up with calendar invites and lower-priority messages that hadn’t been pushed to the Other tab. That’s when I switched the sort order to Priority. Instantly, Copilot grouped my emails into High, Normal, and Low categories. It was like having an AI assistant do the sorting for me. Even without any extra training, it did a surprisingly good job highlighting what really mattered. The best part? I saved about an hour of digging through my inbox and could focus on the messages that needed my attention first. Blog Post with Video: Copilot Outlook Prioritize My Inbox by High| Normal | Low Priorities traccreations4e-p25 9/17/2025Can MBOX files be opened directly in Outlook 365?
This is a very common question. The short answer is no, Outlook 365 doesn’t support MBOX files directly. Outlook works with only PST and OST file formats. MBOX is a file format that is used by many email clients like Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Eudora, SeaMonkey, etc. Because of this difference, I can’t just drag and drop my old MBOX file into Outlook and I also can't expect it to open directly in Outlook. Nevertheless, people typically deal with this situation in a few indirect ways. One way is to add your Outlook 365 account to an email client that supports MBOX, like Thunderbird or Apple Mail, using IMAP after first setting it up. The messages from your MBOX folders can then be exported or moved into the Outlook/Office 365 mailbox inside the client. The data will sync to your Outlook 365 account because it is connected via IMAP. Another way is users need to export emails from the MBOX-based client into formats that Outlook supports, such as EML files. Dragging all EML file them one by one into Outlook. While this method is workable, it is for smaller mailboxes. It becomes time-consuming with large data. I want a simple know-you suggestion for this conversion process. I know I can get better results on Google but I want that solution that gives 100% assurance to open MBOX files in Outlook.30Views0likes0CommentsWorst downgrade ever?
Without any request for user consent, Microsoft has downgraded Outlook today in a way that has wholly wrecked my ability to use the programme. No visibility of emails other than immediate past, no functioning way to change this (changing settings for the unrequested, useless "focused inbox" does not work); no toggle switch (as Microsoft claims there is) to revert to classic Outlook; and, of course, no access to user support. So, is there any guidance available on this site on how to make Outlook usable again, or do I simply have to find another email programme?33Views1like0CommentsNew Outlook..... yet another issue
My client emailed me. I replied, saying 'see replies in GREEN'. Then I went through his email and replied with green text. The client, who is using NEW OUTLOOK, saw the header 'see replies in GREEN'.... but never the replies! Then, if he double-clicks on the email, it opens in a pop-up and he can see the replies! Seriously, the new outlook has too many problems and no clear advantage.24Views0likes0CommentsOutlook New and Public Folders & Contacts
Hello, Unfortunately, some of our customers still use public folders to manage their emails, calendars, and contacts. We are aware that these old technologies should no longer be used. However, some customers are difficult to convince. My question: How can I integrate contacts from a public folder into Outlook New or Web? When we add the email address via “Add public folder as favorite,” the contacts still do not appear. The same applies to contacts from a shared mailbox. How can I integrate these contacts? According to Copilot and Chat GPT, this is how it works. Please help. Thank you very much. ATTENTION: Please only provide solutions for Outlook New. We are also aware that it works with Outlook Classic. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)25Views0likes0CommentsOutlook 365: Folder sorting resets automatically to A–Z
Outlook 365 – Folder sorting resets automatically Environment: - Outlook desktop app (Microsoft 365) - Exchange / Office 365 mailbox - Dark mode enabled - Multiple shared mailboxes Problem description: Outlook automatically changes the folder sorting/display settings without user action. The option “Sort subfolders A to Z” reactivates randomly during the day. The configured sorting (e.g., Received – Descending) resets several times per day. In View Settings, the sorting remains configured correctly, but visually Outlook displays a different order. The issue occurs across multiple folders (Inbox, shared mailboxes). Actions already taken: - Verified and modified sorting via View > View Settings > Sort. - Applied the same view to multiple folders. - Confirmed that the settings remain saved correctly. - Issue persists: the parameter stays the same, but Outlook displays mails differently after refresh. Possible causes considered: 1. Outlook bug – display refresh resets the sorting visually even though settings remain unchanged. 2. Corrupted Outlook views – local view definition might be corrupted (outlook.exe /cleanviews). 3. Outlook add-in – third-party add-in may override sorting. 4. Exchange synchronization – server-side policy may enforce default sorting on shared mailboxes. 5. Recent Microsoft 365 updates – some users have reported similar issues in 2025 (views automatically resetting). Request: - Confirm whether this is a known Outlook 365 bug related to automatic resetting of folder views/sorting. - Provide solution or patch/workaround. - Official Microsoft recommendations to prevent Outlook from reverting to A → Z sorting automatically.79Views0likes0CommentsOutlook signatures
Hello Please i need your help on this issue. It no longer seems to be the client version or version of Outlook. Please see below the Outlook New which is set up on a different device signed in with an account under the same tenancy with the same issue not being able to have multiple signatures. (This is now the same Version and Client Version of Outlook New on Windows 11/Outlook Web Access that many other clients and even myself and Stephan, who do have the option for multiple signatures.)32Views0likes0CommentsOutlook cannot find AD user
I have a user that we set up in AD just like the rest of the users in his OU, but when I went to a computer and had him log in, I opened outlook and went to do the setup, which is normally sets it up to whomever is logged in, and it will not find his account during the "Searching for server settings" or whatever it says. I did notice this computer and another computer he was trying to get set up on were creating temporary profiles whenever he would log in, so I went into the registry where the profiles were and deleted the .bak profiles (as described in another forum to fix the temp profile issue) and after that, he was able to log in and it created a user profile for him. Even after that, I would open Outlook 2016 and it would try to go through the setup wizard, using his account automatically since he is logged in and it would just error out and say that it couldnt find the server settings or something and ask if I wanted to retry. I hit retry, it fails again, and forces the checkbox at the bottom that says "change account settings manually" or whatever to be activated. Any thoughts on this? I have checked his AD account numerous times and made sure he was in EAC as well as having a license.13Views0likes0Comments
