Regarding the formatting issues you mention, a good start is to set the default text properties that you want. If you are running Word for Windows, use the Set as Default button in the Font (Ctrl+D) dialog box and also in the Paragraph dialog box.

The example below shows the Paragraph dialog box. To display it, click the dialog launcher button (= the little arrow) on the bottom right of the Paragraph group on the Home tab.

Hi

I am using Mac - Microsoft  Word 365

Do these rules apply?

The rules apply. The exact location of the controls in the Mac interface may be different.

Certainly for future problems or posts, please, one problem per question. Otherwise these threads get way too confused.

Learn to use styles. Once you have this down, most of the problems you are seeing will likely stop.

Many details are different in Word for Mac. I don't think there are any dialog launcher icons, for one thing.

Maybe, on the main menu bar, you have Format > Font and/or Format > Paragraph?

In the Word for Mac Font and Paragraph dialog boxes, do you see the option Set as Default?
