Pass Choice Column value in query string

Is is possible to pass a value into an oob list new item form within a query string?

List is for requesting a project and would like to be able to set the "project type" from the query string.

I've been digging for awhile, and it doesn't look like the modern experience can receive default values for a new form with querystring variables. I've created a user voice to vote on, please vote on it and hopefully we can get this feature included!
