Meeting series disappearing after declining single item

There's been an issue with reocurring meetings which I can't seem to find a solution to.

When declining a single item of a meeting series - e.g. canceling it for a vacation - the whole series disappears from the calendar. This affects the Outlook Calendar as well as the Teams Calendar and local calendar apps such as the Samsung Calendar App. The user isn't removed from the meeting, it just isn't shown in the calendar apps.

Does anyone have a similar issue? I've not been able to find a solution on the Internet anywhere.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
