Disabling personal blog creation in Delve

Copper Contributor

Hi all,

Recently I noticed that users in the organization now has the ability to create their own blogs from the Delve. Could someone please help me with the below questions that I have.

  • Is there a way to disable the option to create personal blog on Delve?
  • What is the default storage for these blogs? what is the maximum?
  • What is the difference between "/portal/hub/personal" and "/portal/personal/"
  • Can anyone in the organization create their own blog?

Thanks,

Sriharsha

  • Is there a way to disable the option to create personal blog on Delve?

Currently there is not a way to do this. It is baked in as a feature of SharePoint Online. Please check out the following reply for some detailed information the personal Blogs: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Delve/The-blog-feature-on-user-profiles-is-still-showing-up-w...

This will technically use your SharePoint Online storage, but with the storage increases recently announced, I wouldn't worry about that myself.

  • What is the difference between "/portal/hub/personal" and "/portal/personal/"

Great deep dive into the Delve Blogs by @Benjamin Niaulin walks through that, and much more: https://en.share-gate.com/blog/office-365-delve-blogs-explained

  • Can anyone in the organization create their own blog?

Anyone properly licensed, yes.

Max,

Thanks for the quick response. It really helped me understand.

Thanks,

Sriharsha

Somethings to keep in mind,

  1. there is not an easy way to create a Blog Roll that shows all of the Blogs in the organization.
  2. When people leave, their blog gets turned off and eventually removed.
  3. There are not any web parts that make it easy to display a blog in sharepoint site.
  4. Yammer is connected to these Blogs, so this can be used for people to have online conversations about a post
