Teams Premium - Delegates

Brass Contributor

When assigning the Premium licence (in this example to an exec, who has an assistant control their calendar).

1) does the delegate require a licence also?

2)if not, does the delegate get access to all the post meeting features/notes etc?

3)does the delegate also need the same policy assigned to them?

4)anything else we'd need to be aware of?

Thank you!

Hi @Spudgun,

let try to cover all of your questions:

1) Does the delegate require a license also?

No, the delegate does not require a Teams Premium license to access the post-meeting features of a Teams Premium meeting. However, the delegate must have a Teams license (any type) in order to access Teams.

2) If not, does the delegate get access to all the post meeting features/notes etc?

Yes, the delegate will get access to all of the post-meeting features and notes of a Teams Premium meeting, even if they do not have a Teams Premium license. This includes things like meeting recordings, transcripts, and chat history.

3) Does the delegate also need the same policy assigned to them?

No, the delegate does not need to have the same Teams Premium policy assigned to them as the meeting organizer. The delegate will be able to access the post-meeting features and notes of a Teams Premium meeting regardless of their policy assignment.

4) Anything else we'd need to be aware of?

One thing to be aware of is that the delegate will not be able to create or manage Teams Premium meetings on behalf of the meeting organizer. Only users with a Teams Premium license can create and manage Teams Premium meetings.

Another thing to be aware of is that the delegate will not be able to access some of the more advanced Teams Premium features, such as end-to-end encryption and sensitivity labels. These features are only available to users with a Teams Premium license.

Hi,
Thanks for that response.
Been using Premium now for a bit but I still can't fathom as to how/whether a delegate can get to use the benefits. Firstly, afaik, you can't view another users calendar in Teams. So if say for example an exec assistant needed to see the "AI notes", or any other feature in the delegate calendar, they wouldn't be able to. Is this correct?

Hi @Spudgun,

thanks for your update.

Regarding your question, Microsoft Teams doesn't have a native feature that allows direct viewing of another user's calendar within the Teams interface. Delegates can view and manage another user’s calendar in Outlook, which is integrated with Teams.

Features like AI-generated meeting insights, also known as "AI notes," are often associated with specific meetings and not tied to individual calendars.
AI-generated meeting insights, such as transcripts, highlights, and action items, are typically linked to specific meetings. If a delegate arranges or takes part in a meeting on behalf of the executive, they should be able to access the meeting insights within the Teams interface.
