Bluetooth headset microphone bad quality

Copper Contributor

I try use my bluetooth headset (Sony WH-XB900N) in MS Teams. Sound ist good but other members in the video conference can't hear me very good. My voice is very quiet. The same in the test call option.

The microphone level in Win 10 is on 100%.

I tried the headphone in Skype and the quality is good there. Hardware is ok then.

I have the same issue on two different devices (Laptops).

Generally, Bluetooth headset microphones provide poor-quality audio with lag in live video conferencing calls. However, it doesn't sense in most cases, because there is a certified solution by Microsoft for both Teams and Skype for Business calls. You can find better on there: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/across-devices/devices/category/headsets/36 & https://www.headphonesadvice.com/blog/best-microsoft-teams-headset/

@Philipp71 No matter what , the Bluetooth microphone sound quality is very bad, the protocol itself provides minimum bandwidth with old telephone quality.

This is nothing you can do, that is how Bluetooth protocol designed

Solution: How to improve the audio playback quality when using a Bluetooth headset

The reason why your audio quality is poor when using a BT headset might be that your operating system might have changed its audio profile. Bluetooth headsets are typically only being able to use one audio profile at a time uk49s.

Bluetooth headsets typically use the A2DP profile when playing audio as it is optimized for high audio quality. The drawback is that you can't use your microphone while your Bluetooth headset is using the A2DP profile.

When you choose the microphone of your BT headset as audio input - e.g. during a CoScreen session or a Zoom meeting - the profile switches to the HSP or HFP profile so you can use your microphone but the sound quality degrades considerably.
