Audio Poor Quality
The quality of my sound (especially my mic) is REALLY Poor. Same equipment is no issue in Zoom. Any ideas?
My solution was to get a certified teams headset. Zero issues since I did that. The model I picked was the Blackwire C435-M for Microsoft. (It ran about $100). It is not wireless, but I may try that in my next tech purchase. I had tried a Jabra that was supposed to switch between computer and iPhone and I had a lot of problems with that and returned it. I think the Teams Certified rating on the hardware might be key to finding one that works well across the different platforms. Hope you can resolve your issues.
- GraphBuilderCopper ContributorI have a logitech BRIO and the call quality is TERRIBLE with the Brio mic. If I use my laptop mic, the problem is solved. But there's something with Logitech and Teams working together that breaks the sound quality.

When Teams have ruined your sound quality, there is an easy fix, which works for me every time:
Open Settings in Teams ( click 3 dots next to profile picture).
Open Devices tab and click "Make a test call" button.
Wait a few seconds while the test call is executing.
Problem solved and sound quality is back 🙂

This is still very clearly a thing. I just tested with my entire team, and horrible audio quality. BUT with one person using chrome fixed it.
However if that chrome person left the meeting, and returned using the teams app, THEY sounded like they were in a toaster, and heard poor toaster audio quality, but everyone else talking to each other was unaffected and sounded fine to each other.
Microsoft, you need to please fix this. It is known and can be replicated, please fix.
Thanks!

3 years later and this is still a bug in MS Teams.
If there just was a setting to make the sound settings to fu** off it would be probably fixed. But im starting to think that this is still a thing because MS want more money then you got, and want you to buy a certified headset for some bad made application. I have used alot of different applications for meatings and this is 100% the worst. - HongKongPhooeyGalCopper ContributorOur Gen5 Lenovo Thinkpads with the Coxenant onboard Audio ALL started doing this in the middle of October. Coxenant went out of Business in 2019, so there will be no new Driver updates. They sound TOTALLY muffled in Teams Meetings and are unable to hear when the other person speaking also has a Lenovo Thinkpad Gen5.
Thoughts? - troyjansenCopper Contributor
Hey mate, it the wait in MS teams is transporting the audio
The compression placed on the channel is really **bleep**. They are over compressing
I have made a virtual sound card to correct this issue but its still not greatCindyGibson

Hi CindyGibson,
I had the same issue on the Teams Desktop application. Using Teams on Google Chrome In-Cognito resolved the problem for me. This is definitely a problem with Microsoft Teams.

CindyGibson - receiving the same issue. Just installed a new webcam/mic combo, have used 2 different headsets, 2 different earbuds, and they all sound terrible. Did a video conference call with 6 others, and even their audio quality was terrible. Tried a zoom call with all these devices, and they all sound great. At this point I just think its the software being a pos.

Hi Cindy,
Did you ever find a solution to this, I have a customer with this exact same issue, different hardware has the same issue and all work fine in Zoom and Discord. Only affects one user and I've tried multiple locations / network connections with no change. Issue persists in browser and in client but only affects Teams.

I have purchased a 400$ Jabra Speaker Phone built for Teams (has a TEAMS button) - I have the same issue - audio out is awful. Clients are complaining......this needs to be fixed -
Now I am on teams call on laptop - office network and on teams call on cell phone (for audio) and Teams is not working to properly block all the video in the phone and my data usage is skyrocketing - so I am paying for teams and double paying on data for each call and the audio still stinks!

Anyone have anything new on this? I have experienced the same thing while trialing. I've noticed a bad quality of audio when someone calls in via the conference bridge (they are really quiet) and someone is using computer audio for Teams.

Are you an admin in your Teams portal? You can find a lot of call history detail in the portal now. We use it to diagnose call quality issues quite a bit.
