Microsoft Teams Room app update 4.0.105.0 is now rolled out via Windows store. This app update includes various client and service features for Microsoft Teams Room devices.

App rebranding to Microsoft Teams Room

Skype Room System V2 app is now rebranded to “Microsoft Teams Room” as announced previously in this blog post. This rebranding brings room devices a step closer to alignment with Teams calling and meeting experiences and makes UI consistent across Teams clients for all your users. Apart from name changes in the store, this update brings Teams brand color, iconography and theme to Microsoft Teams Room devices.

Theme updates

With this update, Microsoft Teams Room devices console are updated to Microsoft Teams look and feel and themes only apply to Front of room displays but not on meeting room console. This greatly enhances readability of controls on the console as well as make sure color-contrast requirements for accessibility are met. We understand company branding on the console is important to our customers and we will enable adding company logo on console in future releases.

In meeting call controls

In meeting call controls for Teams calls/ meetings are now updated to using same familiar universal bar as in Teams PC/ Mobile clients. Please note that this is a Teams service-based rollout and doesn’t require client build 4.0.105.0. However, we recommend updating to newer client build so you can get latest Teams client bug fixes and updates.

Rate my call

We are also rolling out a call quality rating experience similar to the PC and mobile Teams clients after a call or meeting so you can let us know how your call went. This is a great way for participants to provide feedback about the quality of the audio and video of their calls and meetings to your company’s IT and to Microsoft. Microsoft uses this data to ensure that we continue to provide high quality calling and meeting experiences across the ecosystem of Teams personal and shared devices. This dialog dismisses automatically after few seconds if no rating was provided.

Microsoft Whiteboard support

We have also completed the rollout of Microsoft Whiteboard across Teams client including Microsoft Teams room devices. Microsoft Teams Rooms can now receive and render Microsoft Whiteboard on the front of the room displays when shared from PC/ Web/ Mobile Teams client. Support for starting a whiteboard session from Microsoft Teams Rooms will be added in future releases. If you have /or add touch front of room displays you can contribute to the shared Microsoft Whiteboard in the room to collaborate with remote participants.

image.png

To ensure you can use Microsoft Whiteboard in Microsoft Teams Rooms, make sure Microsoft Whitebaord Web is enabled for your tenant. Instructions here

In order to configure a front of room display as touch device (provided the display supports touch), you should login using Administrator account on Microsoft Teams Rooms device and then use settings for “Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input” to calibrate additional touch displays in the room.

Windows 10 version 1809 update

We are doing intensive testing of our software across our meeting room hardware to ensure a high quality reliable experience, therefore we  do not recommend updating Microsoft Teams Rooms devices to Windows 10 Version 1809 due an compatibility issues found with Microsoft Teams Room client. We are actively testing Windows 10 Version 1903 and support for 1903 will be added in future releases.

Let us know what you think!

Try the new features on your Microsoft Teams Room and provide feedback via User Voice or vote for existing ideas to help us prioritize the requests. We read every piece of feedback that we receive to make sure that the Microsoft Teams Room experience meets your needs.

@Dani_Duck @Madbanzai we are working on the OSK (on screen keyboard) issue(s) and hope to have this fully resolved in our next update (shortly).  @Sohail Tariq

When will I be able to use the whiteboard in a sfb configuration?

Microsoft

@MathiasEr We are not at this point working on any new capabilities for SfB meetings on MTR.

Copper Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn Glad to hear you're working on a fix!. Thank you!

Copper Contributor

My organisation is planning a rollout of Crestron Flex devices both single and dual screen. I am not sold on the performance of soundbars for larger 10-20 person meeting rooms. Can you please confirm if Biamp Devio SCR20 and 25 are certified for Microsoft Teams Rooms?

Thanks

Copper Contributor

@Ilya BukshteynThat is bad news since we cannot go towards Teams at this point and we have a need for the whiteboard function to work.
There are many that still requires on prem solutions in their companies. What are your plans for us?

Steel Contributor

@MathiasEr has the whiteboard ever worked on a room system in SfB (including the v1s)?

Copper Contributor

@Dustin HalvorsonNo, not to my knowledge. But the functionality is highly requested at my company.

Microsoft

@Dustin Halvorson you are correct we have never supported SfB whiteboard in SRS v2.   @MathiasEr the older SfB whiteboard is really an old technology with very low adoption. Our focus is on the Microsoft Whiteboard in Teams meetings. As such we do not have a solution for you for whiteboard in SfB on-prem with MTR, sorry.

Iron Contributor

@Douglas Simpson , not sure if Devio is certified officially, but we have a plenty of Devio SCR-20 and 25 installs in our company and everything works well. But we are still in Skype mode, have not tested Teams mode yet.

Iron Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn @Sohail Tariq, could you please share your plan to support Win 1809 version? If 1809 will not be supported, which version will be supported next - 1903 or 1909 (not released yet)? The reason I ask is that we have 840 SRS/MTR which are managed via SCCM and we already developed 1809 image for them and want to understand:

- should we wait for 1809 support announcement?

- should we create 1903 image?

- should we wait for 1909 release?

Microsoft

@Pavel Aivazov we are working on support for 1903. We need to resolve some issues we are seeing with the on screen keyboard. skipped 1809 due to some other issues.

Iron Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn thanks for the prompt reply. Would you recommend us to work on 1903 image now? As I understand 1909 will be released in September...

Microsoft

@Pavel Aivazov we typically expect to be one Windows release back in our support so would recommend doing the 1903 image now

Copper Contributor

Has anyone had issues with HDMI connection to a laptop not working after the update? We are using a Logitech Smart Dock and every time you plug in an HDMI cable to a Windows or a MacBook laptop the screen just continuously flickers off and on. And the present tab flickers from "Presenting" to "Stop presenting" but nothing from the laptop actually displays. Everything worked great until the update. Any ideas?

Microsoft

@bluedude that should not have anything to do with the app. Those symptoms usually indicate a HW problem, either some sort of issue with the dock HDMI ingest, or an HDMI switcher / extender in the ingest path. One common issue is if HDCP is turned on, such as on a switcher in the path, that can cause problems.

Copper Contributor

Has anyone else had a "Cannot Fetch Calendar" error since the update the Surface is 1803 latest SFB 4.0.105 everything else works but no scheduled meeting showing?

Check Licencing All good

Check Account on a Laptop All good

Can invite the room as a work around

Local log on account is all good,

No Changes to Infrastructure.

We are also on a Hybrid set up, On Prem and Cloud

thanks Joel

Iron Contributor

@bluedude Have you tried updating Smartdock firmware? https://download01.logi.com/web/ftp/pub/techsupport/cameras/Webcams/SmartDockUpdateInstall_1.2.31.48...

This release includes enhancements that improve the handling of HDMI Input and Output experience.

Iron Contributor

@JoelWilkinson yes, a few guys reported the same issue. Your rooms are hosted on prem or online?

Copper Contributor

We would also love to have themes back on the touchscreen.  It looks disconnected now to have one screen have a theme and the touchscreen be plain grey.  It looked much more impressive and coherent when the theme reached across both devices.  We're really disappointed this is gone.

In a couple of our rooms, we have the touchscreen sitting right next to the room display and its very noticeable. It makes the 2 devices look like they are from 2 different systems and aren't connected.

Microsoft

@ChelseaSchultz we made the change on the console to remove themes based on customer feedback on how difficult it was to create themes which work well with the console.  We will continue to track feedback though.  Coming soon will be the ability to customize the console home screen with a logo and / or URL / QR code at the bottom.

Microsoft

@JoelWilkinson@Pavel Aivazov : We have gotten some reports of "Cannot fetch calendar" from a few customers after updating to 4.0.105.0. The underlying issue is related to auto-discover failing due to ADFS rule enforced to block legacy authentication connection in these environments. This rule was set by some to use "user agent". Since with this release as announced in this blog, the app name changes to Microsoft Teams Room. To resolve this issue, please make sure to update any such blocks on ADFS with new user agent.

User-Agent: SkypeRoomSystem/4.0.85.0

User-Agent: MicrosoftTeamsRoom/4.0.105.0
Hope this helps and resolves your issue.

Brass Contributor

We are seeing some issues with new meetings and updates to existing meetings taking some time to update on TRS devices. Any suggestions where to start troubleshooting this, or a setting where can increase the frequency of polling for changes?

Microsoft

@Ryan Fielding Microsoft Teams Room issues a hanging GET for calendar for delta, and when request times out send another. So at any time, delay should be whatever time it is taking for timeout a request, which is generally less than a minute. I am not sure if Exchange or your Network is causing it. Please also check if other clients are showing same symptoms. If this issue is specific to Microsoft Teams Room only, please send us logs so we can evaluate time between GET requests. We may not be able to help you troubleshoot Exchange or your Network but could confirm GET requests are triggering as expected.

Copper Contributor

Just wondering what the roadmap is for full Whiteboard functionality and the ability to launch a whiteboard session.

Thanks

Copper Contributor

Also have a question about custom background themes. Is it still possible for the custom theme to be on the touch interface on the table? Or is this now locked down to the consistent Teams UI?

Thanks

Microsoft

@Douglas Simpson theming has been changed to now only apply to front of room displays, and not the console. We did this based on customer feedback about how difficult it was to theme the console while still keeping is usable. We will be introducing the ability to add a custom logo and/or text and/or QR code in future releases.

We will not support launching the standalone whiteboard app on MTR, as we don’t support multi app management. The web WB app in Teams will continue to be enhanced however.

Brass Contributor

is there any new guide to change the themes? or it still complicated?

I am interested with the whiteboard feature and would like to apply one of our rooms. Any suggested TV ?

Microsoft

@rodelmurex any Windows compatible touch display should work. We do not certify touch displays in our Teams devices programs.

Iron Contributor

@rodelmurex It’s still the same method to change the theme using the xml and background image.

In in some ways it’s easier now as you only have to mind the clock and room name to ensure they show clearly on the right front of room display rather than also having to worry about the overlapping elements on the table top display.

Iron Contributor

@Sohail Tariq @Ilya Bukshteyn We are testing Teams calls on our MTR(app version 105) and I noticed that the following features are missing now:

1. No Instant Messaging functionality

2. When presenting a PowerPoint - no option to take over as a presenter to present from MTR

Both are not a big deal for us, but is there any plans to re-introduce them in future releases?

I also have not seen any "Rate My Call" popups - has this been enabled for everyone already?

Copper Contributor

Hi!

Love the new TRS update! Worked fine on all our 32 devices! But, when installing new device and configuring theme does not work. I have done on all other devices and it worked fine before the new update, after the update the theme was still there! But for the new devices i have tried everything and cant get it to work/install the new theme. I have even reseted the device ofcourse.

Anyone solved this?

Brass Contributor

we do not recommend updating Microsoft Teams Rooms devices to Windows 10 Version 1809 due an compatibility issues found with Microsoft Teams Room client.

@Sohail Tariqor @Ilya Bukshteyn Could you provide some more details with regards to what compatibility issues you have encountered with 1809?  What is the impact/risk of using 1809?

Iron Contributor

@Nader_Nooryani on-screen keyboard stops working sometimes after update to 1809 in my case

Copper Contributor
@Sohail Tariq  Thanks It was an Auto Discovery Service not started on a CASHUB server that had been MS Updated and rebooted, but Services had not started, Restarted the Service and the Calendars started to appear. Many Thanks Joel

Microsoft

@Pavel Aivazov , Ability to see chat during a meeting and present attached PowerPoint files and navigate through the slides from console are on our backlog for CY2020. "Rate My Call" is at Ring 3.9 now and clearing the quality gates in place, it will soon be available WW. Please stay tuned.

@Lotfi Belyamna, Configuring theme has not changed between releases, please make sure theme is applied per guidelines here. Please note that starting 4.0.105.0, theme only applies to front of room displays in the room but not to console. This allows for better readability and accessibility of meeting controls. We plan to add tenant branding elements on console in future so you can use provided space to either show your company brand or add short link, QR code for your users to reach out to your AV or IT support quickly.

@Nader_Nooryani, Compatibility issues with 1809 relates to successfully rebooting Microsoft Teams Rooms app in kiosk mode after nightly maintenance. Although, the occurrence of this is rare, it's not something that we are willing to take risk with or recommends our customers to use. 1903 is under testing and will be unblocked soon. 1903 will also fix OSK issues. Please stay tuned.

@JoelWilkinson , Happy to assist and pleased know that your issue with calendar sync was resolved.

HI
We have 6 TRS (Logitech Smartdock + Microsoft Surface) at present time in our company with Meeting Room Licenses assigned  and we have a following problems.

1, PSTN (Audio Conferencing). When  someone organize meeting where meeting room is member  there is no Call Number for meeting room  and you have no possibility to get an Conference ID to call to the room via PSTN.

As meeting room is never an organizer of an meeting you never get an Conference ID to call to conference room in invitation.

(Call Number we are able to get via admin interface but Conference ID are dynamic)

2, We have Audiocodes SBC and connection to our SIP trunk configured as we are Telecommunication operator in our country. Direct routing  works fine for our users with E5 License but we are not able to set Direct routing for Meetings room, and as Microsoft is not registered as Telecommunication provider in our country we are not able call out from meeting room.

Please correct me if I there is possibility  to somehow configure Direct routing for a meeting room.

Based on points 1, and 2 Audio conferencing in reality doesn't work for meetings rooms.

What is solution for this, especially if you are in meeting room and you want to allow someone call to meeting room ? Where to get an conference ID ?

Is there any problem to attach conference ID to teams invitation, if meeting room is member of meeting ? Or generally speaking someone of attendees has an Audioconferencing or PSTN calling license assigned, but an organizer of meeting doesn't have such a license ?

3,  The button Invite this room  on TRS is pretty useless as after clicking,  you are redirected to screen which informs you about possibility to schedule meeting through teams client or skype client. For what reason such a button exist ? Why is not possibility to schedule an meeting directly on TRS system ?

Steel Contributor

@Jan_S Audio conferencing requires your users, not your conference room, to have a license assigned.  Your room only needs a Phone System license in order to call out.   If your users have E5 as mentioned then they should have the license.

Copper Contributor

@Phillip Lyle

In points 1, 2 and 3 I describe 3 different problems.

If I simplified the question is how  I can call via PSTN to conference room which has an Meeting Room license assigned,  If conference room is not an meeting organizer ? Did you try it, or do you know how to get an Conference ID to call in ?

Thanks

Jan

Steel Contributor

Set-CsMeetingRoom -Identity yourroom -EnterpriseVoiceEnabled $true

Grant-csonlinevoiceroutingpolicy - Identity yourroom -PolicyName yourdirectroutingpolicy

The above enables direct routing for conference room.

I already answered about the obtaining a dial in number for a meeting.  You nerd to have audio conferencing licenses assigned to all of your users.  Then the invites they generate will have the dial in info.

Hi There, has anyone experienced the following issue with 4.0.105.0?

Every time I end a skype call in my room system, Teams app crashes. Same happens on multiple devices. Found the following in event viewer:

Faulting application name: Microsoft.Skype Room System.exe

Faulting module name: ucimm.dll

Event ID: 1000 (Application log)

Copper Contributor

Dear Microsoft,

In our organization we operate 20 Lenovo Hub 500 equipped with Skype Rooms. Skype for Business is On-Prem.

Since the update to Teams Room update 4.0.105.0, several of your devices cannot share the screen with the participants. The message "An error occurred during screen sharing". A restart of the console solves the problem.

Is someone experiencing the same issue after the update?

Thanks in advance,

Pim

Microsoft

@pim82 we just tested this internally and could not reproduce the issue. Please go ahead and start a support case

Copper Contributor

@Ilya Bukshteyn we can reproduce the problem easily.

From the Lenovo Hub:

  • Join the meeting
  • Plug HDMI into laptop -> shown on screen and shared (yellow frame visible).
  • Unplug HDMI cable -> after a few seconds, the grey sharing button reactivates by itself (becomes blue) with no HDMI cable plugged in. Impossible to disable the screen sharing
  • By plugging the HDMI cable, desktop is shown on presenting screen but not shared through Skype (yellow frame does not appears).
  • It is necessary to close the meeting and rejoin the meeting to be able to share the desktop

Skype for Business is on-premise (Skype for Buisiness 2015).

Seems to be a bug because all our 20 Lenovo Hubs are impacted.

Microsoft

@pim82 we tried this and could not replicate here. SfB code on our app is not being changed right now with new releases so unlikely a bug was introduced in an update. Are you guys using any kind of HDMI extender / splitter / switch on the HDMI ingest?

Copper Contributor

@Sohail Tariq

May I know if there's a roadmap/plan to add the recording feature to Teams Room?

We have to get another staff joins the meeting as an attendee to do the recording. It will be nice to be able to record the meeting directly from the system, which makes recording much easier.

Thanks

Ben

Brass Contributor

@bengsp , Yes. Start/Stop recording from the MTR is due in the next release. This was mentioned earlier in the comments.

Copper Contributor
Am I missing something, or https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=851168 already points now to 4.1.22.0 software version?
Brass Contributor

I noticed that when you receive a PSTN call during a Skype meeting, the incoming call notification pops up on screen for a split second, is this expected behavior/limitation?@Ilya Bukshteyn @Sohail Tariq
