AutoSave doesn't work when saving to local drives

Is there a way to have AutoSave on when not using OneDrive? I save my files on our local server in order to have local backup so the AutoSave feature stays off.

Here's some info from microsoft's support page:

so it sounds very much as if you will have to save to your local server "manually"
