Cannot delete organisation from Teams

Hi, It appears to be impossible to delete an organization from Teams

Please see the picture below.

I am unable to remove the organization beginning with L.

I have used my personal email for many years, so I should be the one in control of it! I am the owner/ admin of the email account. However there is no way to delete the rogue /linked organization to which I no longer have access.

How can I take back full control of my email/Teams account and remove this rogue organization? I've clicked on everything I can find and nowhere else mentions this organization. Clicking on the organization in Teams just takes me to a page saying "Microsoft Teams Free (Classic) is no longer available" with options to upgrade. I don't want to upgrade I want it deleted!

TIA

I only have the problem on my desktop client. If I use online Teams, my old account is not listed. So it all boils down to the desktop client not being fully in synch with my online account settings. Which also would suggest that contacting the old org won't help at all.  Still, a major pain in the behind to have a useless triangle override vital info about unread Teams messages. Should go away next time I get a new laptop ...

Hey, is yours an issue with the account showing at the top right-corner when you select your profile, or is it in the list of accounts to choose when you sign in? The latter is a local cache issue :(

The issue is that when I run my Teams desktop client, an old account from a previous customer engagement is still listed in the available accounts. It is flagged with a warning triangle, which overrides the unread messages count on the Teams icon. It is definitely a local issue since online Teams does not list the account. If it is a cache issue, it is a veeery persistent cache - I've been out of that assignment for months by now 🙂. Any idea how to clear the cache?

As this time this topic is almost 2 years, I think Microsoft is never going to implement that we can leave other teams without contacting the other (none existing) organization. I'm out.

I was looking for a solution too. But I can't leave because I first have to login, which I can't... so that exclamation mark will be there for the rest of my career pointing to the fact that I can't do anything about it??

    Dear Community,

I left my company and in consequence paid to get a personal Microsoft 365 account.

It appears that the reason I cannot leave the old organization (s), is that I now have a personal account.

Is there any way to solve this, it is disturbing to see old employers on my personal Teams account, when i log in with my private email and to not be able to resolve this. By now, despite considering myself moderately IT savvy, I have lost hours of my life to the endeavour. All help for tips would be greatly appreciated! Warm thanks

Has anyone managed to resolve this yet?

It is very annoying to have 2 organisations on my Teams showing with exclamation errors: "There are issues with some of your accounts and orgs". I have successfully left the organisations using https://myaccount.microsoft.com/organizations. These orgs do not show on the portal anymore, yet still display in Teams and in error state.

I have the same problem. One of my former client's organizations won't disappear from my work account. For my own freelance company account I connected a personal account, that now does not exist anymore. Both accounts now show this exclamation marks in Teams. Desktop App, Mac App, Web App, Mobile App... Win 11 even keeps bothering me with that "There are issues..." message on every restart. This really has to be fixed quickly!

Edit: anyone else missing the times, when re-installing an application or at least the whole system brought you a fresh, clean environment?

Hey, it comes up a lot. Here are the steps to take:

To leave an organisation with your personal account:

    • Sign in to https://myapps.microsoft.com
    • At the top-left, select the arrow and go to My Account

    • Select Manage Organizations

Here, you'll see a list of organizations connected to your account.

    • Select Leave next to the organization you want to leave
    • Confirm that you want to leave

    What if I can't leave?

In some cases, you may not be able to leave the organisation. This is likely due to a setting that they have that disables the ability for external users to leave the organisation. You can read more about this on the Microsoft Support page.

So agree - so frustrating!! I wrote this on LinkedIn this week and reported it to the Microsoft Teams Product Group. Then just found your post.

HelloBenTeoh Any suggestions for when this doesn't work? I've managed to remove two of my previous organisations but I still have two attached to my personal account ask me to login when I request to leave?

Sorry, late reply, but you'd have to contact the organisation's admin to remove you.
