WebGL Error
I have this issue saying graphics card does not support WebGL when I browse virtual 3D tour with either Edge or Chrome. It happens randomly and seems browser setting is okay (hardware acceralation is ON for Chrome). I have doubt it is caused by lack of RAM but anybody have any idea to avoid this error? I would like to ask that the surface team please ask the windows team or get this sorted out so I can windows 11 offfically. Thank you 🙂 Shawn PS: Cross posted from Windows 11 threadDeletedOct 13, 202184KViews6likes11CommentsSurface Pro Screen flicker issue.
A little over two years ago I bought my first Surface Pro, and after about a year of usage, I started noticing this screen flicker problem. It's widely reported withthousands of threads and reports of screens flickering on surface pro products. Most reports mention heat as a factor and cooling it down can sometimes reduce the flicker. Here is a link to a 2000 post long thread just about this issue. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro4-surfdrivers/surface-pro-4-screen-flickering-shacking/570165cb-50a0-4d71-bcb1-310ddd869d1d?rtAction=1517820905738 I just got my 2nd replacement device last month. And noticed flicker again only 1 month after I got the new one. This time there is no idle flicker.... for now at least. And it only flickers when the device get hot. When gaming or doing some other heavy task. Luckily I've always been under warranty when this problem occurred so I've been getting my device replaced a few times now, but it's getting a bit tedious. My first one (my original purchase) got flickering after about a year. Idle flicker when nothing was moving. My second (replacement device) got flickering about 8 months after I got it. Idle flicker and constant flicker under heavy load. My third (the latest one) got flickering while gaming after just 1 month. So far only under heavy load. I'm starting to think that ALL Surface devices are defective. Some people just don't get the problem because their device never really get hot enough to cause any damage. It seems that Surface Pro's can't handle heat very well at all, and is not suitable for any heavy tasks, gaming, or anything else that might cause it to get hot. Since some people are reporting it even on new models like Surface Pro 2017 it seems they have not fixed the issue. And probably won't be fixed any time soon, as this is probably an engineering or design flaw, that causes some chip to be unstable and damaged due to heat. It seems the only fix is to downclock your surface device to keep it from not getting hot enough to cause the damage in the first place, and don't use it for any heavy tasks. Some people that don't use the device for any heavy tasks still report this issue so it's not the CPU/GPU getting too hot, but rather this little part here. Even on an idle machine with low CPU temps touching the lower part of the screen with the back of your hand this area is the hottest part. And is probably housing the chips that get unstable due to heat. Replacing the LCD will fix the flicker issue, so It seems like chips related to the LCD will get damaged over time. Weather it be from the heat produced by the device itself or external heat, as there is no active or passive cooling for any of the chips related to the LCD screen. If there's any engineers on this forum, place fix this issue in future devices. It's a great device and the CPU/GPU will get cool enough even under heavy load, but the LCD must chips have been overlooked.Ricard JensenFeb 05, 2018Brass Contributor37KViews1like10CommentsBluetooth Headphones and Surface Arc Mouse interference
I am using a Surface Pro 4 with the Surface Arc Mouse while trying to listen to music on LG HBA A100 Bluetooth headphones. Every time I move the mouse the audio lags. It is incredibly frustrating and destroys my work flow. How can I fix this?Eugene_MS1Dec 07, 2018Copper Contributor6.4KViews0likes8CommentsFed up with Bluetooth lag on Surface Pro 4
Since I installed the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, my Bluetooth experience has been miserable. I use Surface Mouse, Surface Keyboard, Surface Dial, Surface Pen, and a couple different Jabra Bluetooth headsets. It doesn't drop the connection, but the Bluetooth is so slow at times, accurately pointing at or selecting anything is a real challenge. Some people have said it's a problem with the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios sharing bandwidth. Others have hinted that like other Surface drivers, the ones provided by Microsoft may not perform as well as generic manufacturer drivers. I'd like to consider trying generic Bluetooth drivers to see if performance improves. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Hello, everyone! Hope everyone is well. Guys, have anyone faced this? We have Surface Pro 3 here, we followed the steps described in: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface-recovery-image https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/creating-and-using-a-usb-recovery-drive-for-surface-677852e2-ed34-45cb-40ef-398fc7d62c07 Downloaded the Image for Surface Pro 3 (inserted model and serial number) Downloaded the zip file Prepared USB using Recovery Drive UncheckedBack up system files to the recovery drive Once created, extracted all zip file content to the drive Also tried using CMD > diskpart > select disk and clean/create partition primary Set Surface Pro 3 BIOS to TPM and Secure Boot to Disabled(also tried enabling) These steps just results in a Black screen after booting the USB. Right after the "Surface" loading screen with circling dots. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this maybe a hardware issue?fhchoiNov 10, 2023Copper Contributor1.2KViews0likes6CommentsSurface Pro 4 with mouse/touch bubbles in the screen
I have a Surface Pro 4 that was working just fine until yesterday, when it started showing some kinds of "bubbles" (the same they appear when you touch the screen with your finger) in the screen, several in the same line, like I was touching the screen in all those points. When they appear, I cannot use the touchscreen, and mouse pointer keeps going to those bubbles. I'm not sure if it is a hardware or software problem, but if anyone could give my advice, I'd be pleased. Thanks in advance.fkmacielMar 16, 2022Copper Contributor11KViews0likes6CommentsSurface Pro 3 - Touchpad error
Hi there, Every time I touch my touchpad (which usually acts as a mouse) on my Surface Pro 3, my screen turns off. It doesn't shut down the whole tablet, it basically just locks it. The mouse icon might move slightly with my finger, but after about a second my screen goes black. I can touch a key on the keyboard to turn the screen back on, and log back in, but if I use my touchpad again the same error happens. So my keys work fine, but my touchpad does not. I've tried to toubleshoot this and held the Power and Up volume buttons for 10 seconds, when I saw a factory re-set type of screen, the touchpad worked fine, so I know that it does still work. Can anyone help me with this? I know I can just touch the screen instead of the pad, but I'm so used to using the touchpad, I'd love to be able to use it again! Hi all, This is the first time I write here so, first of all, thank you for all the support I've the Surface pro 8, with Windows 11 dev channel (last build) and I cannot connect my smartphone (Xiaomi MI 9 se) while the surface pen is already connect via Bluetooth. With other Surface (I had SP2, SP4 and SP5) it was possible. What's the problem? Is a bluetooth problem? a Windows 11 error? Xiaomi compatibility problem? (i don't think so becouse everithing works fine with my other Surface Pro devices)GiacomoMSMay 02, 2022Copper Contributor2.5KViews0likes5Comments
