Integrate Tab Groups with Collections
Hey, In old Internet Explorer and also in Chrome, the Tab Groups (TG) features is a way to stack tabs together in a color-coded with manner with an optional title. Edge Collections is a semi-tab-groups behavior, that lacks most of the TG functionality. Here's how I'd like to see this integration happening: When clicking or Ctrl+clicking a link on a page, add the opened tab to the same TG as the source, creating a new group if necessary When pressing Ctrl+T, the new tab should be in the current TG Allow saving a TG for later use (via Collections) Allow pinning or closing of a TG as a Collection, so it gets collapsed for later Enable "Open all tabs" in a Collection - and it should be opened as a TG Allow closing TG with a single click Collection and TG should be under the same definition and should be seamlessly managed together All actions should be able to be performed from the tab context menu Tab Groups should be available in Desktop and Mobile versions of Edge, like Chrome. This is a deal breaker to me, it's functionality I got used to, and when using Chrome on Mobile I can't share links via "send to device"Solved6.5KViews3likes2CommentsBring Multi-Account Container Tabs to Edge
Elliot Kirk David Rubino I really hope that Multi-Account Container Tabs feature is in the todo list of Edge team. As you know, Firefox is the first major browser to introduce this innovative functionality for safe and organized browsing experience. But Multi-Account Containers can also be used by web developers as an important and time saving tool. This can be one of the big differentiating features of Edge. The Problem While building multi-role web applications we need to constantly logout and login with different user accounts. There should be a better way to improve this workflow. Current Solutions Incognito mode: Gives only one extra session. Multiple profiles: Different profiles are separate instances. Currently it is not possible to sync among multiple profiles. So even profiles allow multiple sessions, it is very difficult to use as a workaround for multi-container tabs. Specially without history, bookmarks, and passwords the benefit of multiple session is very little. Better Solutions Multi-Account Container tabs Allow syncing among multiple local Edge profiles. Because it is not possible to create so many real online Outlook accounts to get container tabs like benefit. To make it even helpful allow automatically merging data of selected local profiles to one chosen Outlook profile. Show option to re-create those local profiles when logs into Edge in another machine with that consolidated Outlook profile. I have tried posting this on Gmail forums with no success. For the past 10 days or so, Edge logs me out of my 3 Gmail accounts every time I close the browser. It does not save any of their login info. It never did this in the past, and this does not occur with any other site. I have checked the settings multiple times, and Edge IS NOT set to automatically clear cookies from any site, including Gmail. I have tried resetting browser settings and am still experiencing this.4.9KViews1like5CommentsDev Channel update to 134.0.3124.5 is live.

Greetings Insiders, Many people use the Read aloud feature in Microsoft Edge as a daily driver. It is super convenient to just pop in an earbud and listen to content while doing something else. Not just that, Read aloud helps auditory and visual learners to focus on content and learn more efficiently. Read aloud is currently available in Immersive Reader and for webpages—today, we are excited to announce that we are extending support to PDF files. Read aloud for PDFs is now available for everyone on the latest Canary and Dev builds and will be coming to Beta in early June. Try it out To access Read aloud, open any PDF file in Microsoft Edge from your computer or from the web. In the toolbar along the top, you will see “Read aloud” as an option. Click/tap on this button to start. Microsoft Edge will start at the beginning and highlight each word as it goes along. You can control the reading speed and choose your favorite voice via the "Voice options" menu from the toolbar at the top of the page. You can also play/pause the reading and skip ahead/go back a paragraph at your own pace. Read aloud is also available on any webpage–simply highlight a piece of text, right click, and select "Read aloud" from the menu. (For shortcut lovers out there, you can launch Read aloud with Ctrl+Shift+U). You can access Read aloud through Immersive Reader as well. Open Immersive Reader from the address bar and select “Real aloud” from the toolbar. Why? Whether you're a tech insider or a casual user, Read aloud can help improve your reading experience. Reduce reading fatigue: Do your eyes get tired from reading page after page? Read aloud lets you step away from the screen. It's like an audiobook but for emails, important documents, or webpages. Enhanced engagement with content: Read aloud helps you read while performing other tasks. Listen to a recipe as you cook and then to your favorite blog while you eat. Do you have limited time? Increase the playback speed and hear the content at your own pace. Catch typos and grammar mistakes: Sometimes all it takes to catch a spelling mistake or a grammar issue in your writing is to have someone else read it back to you. Read aloud is your new friend for proofreading that is available anytime, anywhere. Education and accessibility: For people learning to read, Read aloud can help with reading comprehension. Additionally, Read aloud can help with pronunciation if you stumble across a new or unfamiliar word. Support for more natural voices You can customize your Read aloud experience by choosing from a variety of voice options. Powered by Text to Speech, Read aloud provides lifelike, natural-sounding voices that are easy to understand and enjoyable to listen to. Online and offline support Read aloud is available in both online and offline modes—if you’re in an area without an internet connection, this can be particularly handy. A basic set of voice options is made available when offline. For the full set of voice options, internet connectivity is needed. Share your feedback We are always looking for ways to improve this feature for you. Give it a try on a webpage, Immersive Reader, or a PDF and let us know what you think! - The Microsoft Edge Product Team126KViews14likes37CommentsMachine learning powered autofill suggestions
Hello, It looks like a new Machine Learning autofill feature was rolled out with Edge 132 and enabled by default. There is a bug with this setting where even if you have the parent "Save and fill basic info" setting disabled, the Machine Learning suggestions still appear even though the setting is grayed out. This leads to a confusing user experience, because folks that work in enterprise forms with PII try to disable their autofill, only for the feature to remain active. The workaround to disable this feature is to re-enable Autofill, turn of ML suggestions, then disable Autofill again. It looks like there is an enterprise policy to control this setting rolled out on January 17 with Edge 132.0.2957.115. However, I do not see this setting in Intune's Settings Catalog. We are trying to manage in the cloud and avoid creating any more group policies. Is anyone aware of an ETA for this to be added to Settings Catalog? I'd prefer not to set up a Remediation or ADMX CP only for the setting to become available shortly thereafter. Thanks! Andrew95Views0likes2CommentsThe official place to report bugs
I am a user of the beta version of Edge on Linux. From time to time, I encounter bugs that I’d like to report. After some searching, this forum is the closest I have found to a bug tracker. So I was wondering whether there’s a dedicated place for reporting bugs or should I just post here?78KViews0likes45CommentsIn Private - Taskbar Icon change
The icon/display of In Private window(s) needs to have a completely different icon/display to a normal Edge window. I have In Private sessions open many times a day along with Edge running all day long. It is hard to identify which are the In Private sessions along the taskbar without hovering over the Windows and seeing the preview of the page(s) i have open.1.2KViews1like3CommentsHow do you remove "Edge closed unexpectedly"
We are getting a message that says "Restore Pages. Microsoft Edge Closed Unexpectedly." Then there is a big blue "Restore" button. We want to disable this. How do we do it? Supposedly people used to have an option of selecting "Zero" as an option with "RestoreOnStartup" as well as disabling StartupBoostDetected. This no longer seems to work. Any other suggestions? Just to test I changed the registry to "Zero" and you can see in Edge this policy value is no longer supported. CSS does not support many SVG attribute animations, and the original Edge fully supports SMIL to implement all SVG attribute animations; But the latest edge has encountered many problems, and the latest beta version is also not working. Before CSS animations fully support SVG attributes, smil animations should not be overlooked. I hope you can answer our concerns.328Views0likes2CommentsEdge always open favorites in new tab is missing
Edge always open favorites in new tab has been removed, even if --enable-features=msFavoritesOpenInNewTabSetting is added to the launch command I don't understand why such a nice feature is hidden, or even not allowed for us to use, I'm disappointed, really disappointed, hurry up and add it back, no matter how you enable this feature I promise, if you add this feature back, there must be a lot of people who will come back to Edge60Views1like3CommentsFeature Requests: Keyboard Shortcut to hide/show vertical tab bar
I'm loving the vertical tab bar natively, but just have a few simple feature requests that would make it that much nicer for a power user: 1) Provide a keyboard shortcut to collapse and expand the vertical tab bar. I love the vertical tab bar for allowing for titles to be visible even when you have a decent number of tabs, but it does take up a lot of horizontal space, so I am often switching between it being and expanded and collapsed. A keyboard shortcut (something that requires only left hand) would make this so great. 2) Remove the 'x' from each tab unless the pointer is hovering over it. The 'x's on every tab just takes away space for showing more of the tab titles.8.2KViews30likes17CommentsWhite screen flash when switching to foreground
Windows 11 Dev build 26120 Edge Beta build 133.0.3065.39 This happens every time I switch it to foreground. It's really annoying and hurting my eyes. I searched for this problem but other people seem to encounter it only on startup, page refresh or new tab. This is probably not a hardware related problem because I have switched to a new PC and reinstalled Windows but still seeing this.43Views0likes1CommentI just freshly install Win11, 24H2. but Edges is acting weird, I can't update, reinstall, remove.
However, I can install Chrome/Firefox. Help! I tried to remove the program and repair it, but the installer just disappears. I can still use the pre-installed Edge browser on my Win11, but I can't install addons from the Google Extension store. anyone know the issue?24Views0likes0CommentsNew feature: Smooth pinch-style zooming using mousewheel.
I really miss the smooth zooming that you get from pinch gestures on touchpad or touchscreen when using my desktops that have only a mouse with a wheel. The Ctrl+wheel style zooming has its place but 90% of the time if you just want to quickly enlarge and image or focus on a part of the page with small text the fast and smooth zoom-in-read then zoom-out of pinch style is so much nicer. With a mouse wheel that is smooth itself like my Logitech ones it would be a nice smooth action all round. Could Alt+wheel be used to trigger the smooth zoom? Leaving the current Ctrl+wheel one unchanged for people who are used to it.4.4KViews3likes3Comments
