Prevent Bing web page from opening when Edge starts

I am tearing my hair out with this.  I do not want a tab to open to the Bing search site when Edge starts.

I have tried numerous fixes I found on the Web and none of them work.

First I tried changing some settings on Bing itself.  That did nothing.  Then I did this in Edge...

1. Go to Settings>Privacy,Search and Services
2. Scroll all the way to the bottom and “Address bar and search”
3. Set “Search engine used in Address Bar” to “Google (Default)”
4. Set “Search on new tabs uses search box or address bar” to “Address bar”

This seemed to work... FOR A FEW STARTS.  Now it is back to opening a new tab with Bing again when Edge starts.

How do I stop this???!!!

Thanks for any help.

Posts like this one have been around for years, and no one has found an answer. Here in 2025, Edge still automatically opens a bing.com page, most often promoting a Microsoft product.

I've tried dozens of fixes, and the only one that shows promise is switching from Edge to another browser.

Has anyone found a fix for this? Edge has been opening one or two pages per day in this way. A minor annoyance, but a frustrating one...
