How to use onedrive on more than one device
I am trying to help my Dad with his onedrive but am struggling to understand this myself. He has the Personal account which I believe he is correct it allows you to save files on more than one device. When we log in on his main pc and look in devices it lists his old PC but doesnt show the computer he is currently on. Would this be normal or should it be listed? I am reluctant to delete the old pc in case I mess everything up before we continue. If he adds another device (laptop) - firstly does he need to log in with same email address or can he use a secondary email address that he prefers to use on laptop to keep everything seperate. Secondly if he has two devices registered, does one drive save everything from both together or will they shown as separate? Block owners in OneDrive
Hi Team. I need to protect the information in OneDrive accounts. How can I prevent a user who is not the owner of a OneDrive account from becoming the owner? Symlink Directory Perpetually Shows “Sync Pending” Status
Client uses NAS drive for shared documents in a small office. He asked to be able to access these documents while traveling, so I created a Symbolic Link directory in his OneDrive folder (“%UserProfile%\OneDrive\NAS Files”) pointing to the mapped network drive (S:\). This worked for quite a while, i.e. several years, until recently when the OneDrive status for that directory only is stuck on “Sync Pending” even though the overall OneDrive status says files are synced. To date, I have tried the following: Quit and restart OneDrive app Unlink and relink workstation to OneDrive account Rename SymLink directory to “NAS Files New” Add test documents to directory on both workstation and in web-based OneDrive interface Deleted entire SymLink directory from both workstation and web-based OneDrive interface, waited for changes to process, and readded SymLink directory After the last attempt listed above, the directory partially synced again but did not complete and still shows pending status. Client can access some, but not all, of the needed files in the directory. Any suggestions for further troubleshooting steps? I shared a folder to a collogue of which she has saved so it is online and also a hardcopy on the computer. When she opens an excel file from the computer, it does not show the Co-authorizing ability. We can track each others activity. I can only see Co-authorizing when she uses the online version. Additionally anytime she makes a change to the PC file, if I have the same file open, her OneDrive immediately has an error and forces her to save as a copy. Please note, if she is using the online file, I can collaborate from the same file from my PC. The issue seems to only occur when we are both using our PC version of the same file. OneDrive unlink a sharepoint site on its own
Hello, I admit, this is a weird one. 10 users have a sharepoint site synced to their computer, using onedrive "sync" feature. Everything works fine. Out of the blue, one of the users complains that the folder is not kept in sync; indeed there was no folder in sync in the onedrive settings. while we thought about a user mistake, all the other users started complaining about the same issue. We gathered onedrive logs and parse them to deoffuscate the strings and we found out that onedrive reports the Library to be unreachable LibraryErrorHandler::SendCoreMessageForUnreachableLibraries this triggers the deletetion of the registry key that manages the sync Removing unknown key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\SyncRootManager\OneDrive\XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Has anyone experienced this? For some reason, files in my some of my OneDrive folders are appearing in others. In most cases, they are not moving over from their original folders. They are still in the original folders but also popping up elsewhere. When I try to open them, most won't open. When you try to open photos that have duplicated in another folder, you're told "this file doesn't have a preview we can show you" and Word documents won't open with the message "sorry, this document can't be opened for editing". But I have come across one instance where a photo in a folder is copied in the same folder but with a completely different name of another t file from another folder. that did open. Within the last 2 weeks something has changed. Pinned folders no longer show up at the top of the page in OneDrive when using the Edge or Chrome browser. If you use Brave they do appear in OneDrive If you use Sharepoint they work in all browsers.Solved66Views0likes1Comment
OneDrive Upload and Share Permissions
Hello...I have a user using OWA (University - Microsoft 365 A5 license) who is experiencing a new scenario/error msg., when initiating the "upload and share" option to share a locally stored file as an email attachment (gets uploaded by default to their OneDrive Attachments folder) when sending OWA email messages to colleagues. The email will send with the attachment icon/link, but recipients don't have access to it and have to choose the "request access" option, where then the user/sender can approve the request for access. The error msg., is "you don't have permission to give others access to file X" and the filename that is uploaded has red text (normally it is blue). The users has tested this scenario on multiple computers w/ multiple browsers, and changed the upload OneDrive folder location, with the same result. I can initiate the same scenario on the same computers, browsers, and files, while signed onto my OWA account w/ out issue. The user's Mailbox has a small quota size and their OneDrive account does as well. This started about two weeks ago, though as far as I know, no University Enterprise changes were made to the users account. Not sure what to look at for a solution so any help would be appreciated. OneDrive Context menu missing Hi guys, I’m having some issues regarding OneDrive and it’s Context Menu not being present on files. Environment: Windows 11 23H2, Intune managed OneDrive Build: 25.005.0112.30003 (64-bit) Affected users: all I tried all the fixes I could find on the Internet, but none have helped. Devices don’t have issues with synchronization, they only have an issue with the Context Menu missing. I can only see Always Keep on this Device and Free Up Space. Even if I press Show More Options, only the same only two previously mentioned appear. Is there anything else which I could have missed? Intune policies – no one seems to control such a thing, the context menu. Is there really not a known fix for this issue? 1. Sharing one drive files directly from outlook
My team is relatively new to using one drive. We are looking to migrate our files over to OneDrive to be able to collaboratively work on files however we cant seem to share one drive files directly from an outlook email e.g. via attach file. For addiitonal context our files are housed in an ms teams 'Files' section which I have then synced to my computer so these can be accessed through file explorer. However when I try to attach a file from an outlook email and choose a file in one of these synced folders it just downloads and attaches as a local file. I am aware you can use the 'browse web locations' under the attach files drop down however I then have to manually navigate through all the subfolders until I get to the target documents' location. Ideally I want to be able to pin onedrive folders to my quick access that I can use to reach the onedrive files and not download them as local files to attach. Hi All I already tried searching Google for it, but I can't find info on how to remove obsolete OneDrive icons from the desktop (Bureaublad). In this 'explorer' view I have in the tree the 3 working OneDrive folder links. However on the 'desktop' (Bureaublad) view I see old obsolete icons eg. 'CEAN B.V. (32 bits)'. When I right-click I get the option to delete (verwijderen) and it will be removed. It will however re-appear after refreshing the view. So how do I remove it permanently? Is it something in the Registry? If yes, where to look for it. I cannot find any settings in OneDrive itself. Thanks for any suggestion. When using the OneDrive API I am url encoding the file names so for example a file with a plus or hash symbol would get encoded the the percent symbol escape sequence. This works correctly for files and they are created on OneDrive with the correct characters. When I create a folder this does not work correctly. I encode the name in the same way but when the folder is created on OneDrive it still contains the percent symbol so it seems not to be decoding server side. Does anyone know how to fix this? Hi. So for the past few weeks I've had this banner at the top of word. Translates to: LOGON REQUIRED We can't upload or download your changes, as your saved identification information have expired. When I log in again it disappears for a moment, and then reappears. At first it didn't cause any trouble, but now my changes to my word documents are literally not being saved. Every time I boot my Windows 10 Pro desktop computer, I get a OneDrive pop-up message that says "OneDrive is not signed in" and it cannot sync my OneDrive folders until I sign in. I have signed in to OneDrive after logging on to my computer, but the pop-up appears the next time the computer is booted. I have uninstalled and reinstalled OneDrive, but the problem remains. I have disconnected the computer from OneDrive and reconnected it to OneDrive, but the problem remains. I have checked all my OneDrive settings and cannot find anything that would cause this problem. Hello my dear friends, I like to know if there is a way (intune, SCCM oder ADMX template) to exclude a subfolder of syncronized folder (Known folder move) named "Documents". The reason is, that there is a software deployed automatically to the computers and this software stores a lot of files with a lot of changes over the day to this folder underneath Documents and OneDrive is starting to hang oder starting to throw sync errors because of that. Now we need to exclude this folder for sync.
