Re: Create and Manage Device Groups area is missing from my tenant
Hey there, sorry no progress was made. I gave up on digging into it as it was taking up more time than I could afford to give. What I can say is, Defender for Business is definitely a very confusing platform in regard to features provided and their documentation doesn't help very well.1.3KViews0likes1CommentRe: Where and how are the Outlook Message Encryption templates managed?
I have seen that page many times now and the part that is causing me concern is the big banner at the start that says "If you're not an E5 customer, use the 90-day Microsoft Purview solutions trial to explore how additional Purview capabilities can help your organization manage data security and compliance needs.". We are NOT an E5 customer so I am very wary of performing any steps in the article that involve enabling things - I don't want to receive a surprise bill because I turned something on I shouldn't have. I did a few of the tests inside the Setup Message Encryption page (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/purview/set-up-new-message-encryption-capabilities) and some pass but some fail. We are also not interested in advanced features and mail rules that automatically apply encryption, I just want to edit the existing templates that are being presented to users.4.8KViews1like0CommentsWhere and how are the Outlook Message Encryption templates managed?
We have Microsoft 365 Business Premium licenses. Within Outlook, when you create a new email and go to the Options tab, there is an Encrypt button with the following options; Encrypt-Only, Do Not Forward, Confidential - All Employees, and Highly Confidential - All Employees. I want to see if I can create some specific ones for certain use cases but I'll be damned if I can find where these are set. I would also like to find out the specific restrictions each of these puts in place. I can distinctly remember messing around with message encryption templates a year (or more) ago but fast forward to today and everything seems to be retired or replaced or moved and I can't for the life of me locate where these email encryption templates are located. The MS docs are all over the place and searching for things in the Azure portal pull up nothing (or old docs that aren't current anymore). I know labels are now a big thing and maybe I missed migrating these encryption templates to labels? (in my searches I've seen ARM then Azure Information Protection which seems to be replaced by Rights Management Service and then talk about labels...)5.3KViews0likes2CommentsConstantly receiving Permissions requested Review for your organization when signing into Azure
If I leave the WAC session up over night and try to integrate anything with Azure (eg Azure Update) it fails and I need to sign out of WAC completely. After signing in again and going to Settings > Account > Connect to Azure Account I receive a popup requesting permissions. I hit approve and it signs in. If I check the Azure App settings for permissions I can see everything is set properly. Yet when I have to sign out and back in again, I need to approve these permissions all over again. Is there something I'm missing?713Views2likes0CommentsRe: Devices are not showing logged on users
But it's also not even considered P1 (even though it has every bulleted feature). Take Device Groups for example (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/machine-groups?view=o365-worldwide). It requires Defender for Endpoint P1 or P2 but it does not work in DfB.5.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Devices are not showing logged on users
Wow that’s quite annoying! Really appreciate you posting the reason. I’m starting to feel pretty **bleep** because I was the one pushing to drop our existing platform and move to Defender because it was included with our M365 BP licenses and that it was basically P1 and parts of P2. I really wish more of these limitations were clearly stated. Their “what’s in DfB” chart that highlights parts of P1 and P2 needs to specify that just because all of the P1 features are includes, it’s NOT DfE P1. Sigh.5.1KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Devices are not showing logged on users
Oh I have also recently discovered that there's a difference between them. I thought that because it included things from P1 and P2 then it would naturally act like P1 and P2 but nope! Yeah I really dislike how they treat it like something totally different.5KViews0likes4CommentsDevices are not showing logged on users
The environment is hybrid with devices being managed by Intune. We are also using Microsoft Defender for Business so maybe that's why this feature isn't working. On Settings > Endpoints > Advanced Features, the setting Show user details is enabled. If I navigate to Device Inventory and click on any device, the Logged on users area says 0. It doesn't matter the time range or device, this status isn't being populated. Is there a setting or requirement I'm missing to be able to see this?Solved5.9KViews0likes8CommentsRe: Create and Manage Device Groups area is missing from my tenant
I received a reply from MS Support. The Device Groups functionality is not directly available in Defender for Business despite it including features from P1 and P2. The DfB groups are managed elsewhere. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/defender-business/mdb-create-edit-device-groups?view=o365-worldwide3.8KViews1like3CommentsRe: Create and Manage Device Groups area is missing from my tenant
elieelkarkafi Also don't have that. I'm guessing that the Defender for Business plan, although contains all P1 stuff, is crippled in some way. This was part of the feedback I provided on the documentation. I mentioned that maybe this was due to the license we have but no comment was made on that.3.9KViews0likes6CommentsRe: Create and Manage Device Groups area is missing from my tenant
My GA account isn't licensed and afaik, MS has stated that GA accounts don't need licenses. I logged in with my user account which IS licensed and I still don't see the section. The other sections are visible but greyed out (cannot change) which is expected.4.1KViews0likes10CommentsRe: Create and Manage Device Groups area is missing from my tenant
If you look at the chart at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/defender-business/compare-mdb-m365-plans?view=o365-worldwide#compare-defender-for-business-to-defender-for-endpoint-plan-1-and-plan-2 you can see that DfB contains everything P1 has and even some P2 components. So I'm not sure why I can't see this permission section.4.1KViews0likes0CommentsCreate and Manage Device Groups area is missing from my tenant
I tried following along with the documentation https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/defender-endpoint/machine-groups?view=o365-worldwide#create-a-device-group but I do not have a Permissions section (let alone Device Groups) under the Endpoint settings. Here is what the setting is supposed to look like And this is what my tenant looks like. I initially thought there was a problem with the documentation but after I submitted feedback they said there might be something wrong with the tenant. I just wanted to check with other users to see if they are seeing things properly or if others see the same as what I do. The doc reply said I should open a support ticket however this always redirects us to our reseller who for the lack of better words, are totally incompetent, and I'm unable to open tickets with MS directly. Would rather not waste my time. Regarding licenses, we have Business Premium. Am I just looking in the wrong spot or is something going on with our tenant?Solved4.9KViews0likes18CommentsCancel a form based on answers?
Is it possible to cancel the form based on answers from branching? For example if you answer Yes to a question it continues on but if you selected No it would cancel the form and not let you submit? If you create a custom response section that says "sorry your request was cancelled due to answer" there is still a Submit Form button at the end.Solved11KViews0likes8Comments
