First of all let me start by saying Happy New Year. The System Center Operations Manager team thanks you for your continued business and looks forward to working with you in 2014.

It’s been a busy time here over the past 6 months in the Management Pack space. Aligned with the 2012 R2 wave we were especially pleased to release the 36 2012 R2 MPs for Windows Server and System Center at the same time as the 2012 R2 wave. In this cycle we spent a large amount of time not only ensuring that the English MPs were released on time but that they were closely followed by the localized MPs. The MPs have been localized in 18 languages and over the next month all will have been officially released.

This blog is however about a slightly different but related topic – MP Authoring.

I wanted to share with you some exciting updates in the tools available to you for MP Authoring. Today Silect is releasing a FREE tool for MP Authoring called MP Author. This tools is targeted at IT Pros and allows them to easily design and develop new management packs or customize existing management packs for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager. Whether the IT application or system—requiring System Center Operations Manager management and monitoring---is common or custom, MP Author allows users to develop management packs without needing XML skills. Utilizing a wizard-driven designer and a simple, intuitive browse and select interface, MP Author guides users through pre-populated and pre-configured steps to design new and/or customize existing management packs to specifically meet their unique business needs

This tool fills a much needed gap in the portfolio for providing an IT Pro orientated tool for MP Authoring.

Again this is completely FREE and can be downloaded here: www.mpauthor.com . You can also read the Silect press release at www.bridgeways.com .

This complements the investments Microsoft will continue to make in the MP Visual Studio Authoring Extensions(VSAE) which is primarily targeted to the developer rather than the IT Pro.

If you want to know more or have any questions or issues related to Management Packs please let me know.
