Is changing the machine and domain name directly in the Defender for Endpoint console possible?

No, not at this time, theres a 180 day half-life for machines that register in MDE

After that time you will see the machine disappear

What are you trying to do with this? If it were me, I would expect the data in MDE to reflect the actual state of the endpoints, why would you want to change machine name/domain in MDE? Do you mean you want to change the machine name in MDE and have the endpoint then proceed to change its name?

That's not the issue.

The issue is that the local machine reports a name and the Defender for Endpoint console reports another name.

Leave this case alone, I have already confirmed with Microsoft that changing the name on the console directly is not possible today.
